He isn't elite. He's a world class fighter no doubt but elite is a level few fighters reach, we are talking the top P4P fighters, which clearly Froch is not.

How do you come to the conclusion that Froch isn't elite? He's ranked as No2 in the SMW division. I'd understand if he was ranked outside of the top 5, but he's not. Are you now telling me that Martinez is a P4P elite fighter? After what wins? Even Pacquiao has lost more than he's won against top opposition. Only because people don't pay attention to higher weight divisions that Froch is not regarded as elite. To compare 147 to 168 division is ridiculous.

Different levels in boxing. Me personally, I wouldn't even class all of the top 10 P4P as elite. Nor would I class the number 2 at 168lbs as Elite.

I remember someone calling Khan 'elite' because he had become the number 1 at 140lbs. I disagreed with that. Elite for me, you have to demonstrate consistency up against World class (and even elite opposition), whether this be across a number of weight classes, or just the one. Froch hasn't shown this to me, but he has shown he belongs at world level, undoubtedly.

If people dare call Broner elite but not Froch, they need to get punched in their jaw

Until he beats Kessler I have Froch 3rd at 168lbs. But even if you have him at number 2 by your classification there are at least 34 elite fighters as there are 17 weight classes and if being top 2 makes you elite that's a lot of elite fighters which kind of defies the definition of being elite.

Being elite is only for a select few. You could be the top fighter in your division it doesn't mean you are elite. Was Foreman elite when he got a lucky decision against Schultz, was Schultz elite because he clearly beat a supposedly elite Foreman? Was Carlos Baldomir elite after he beat Judah?

    Froch is not elite.

Some people have a different opinion on what Elite is, so it's not too controversial a view. Some believe it means P4P top 10, some believe top 5 in your division, some believe it means ATG. It's a term that isn't defined properly, so you can understand his POV.

In fact, it's a term that i often don't know how to define. Look, i'm from Nottingham and am as big a Froch fan as you're ever likely to meet. Being at the Bute fight was one of the best nights of my life and one i'll never forget, but i can't criticise this guy for voicing his opinion. In fact, he comes across as a thoroughly nice guy!

Aye, semantics can cause a debate where no debate would otherwise exist.

the term "elite" is relative. On the world stage would I consider him elite, no. In a British maybe a European level, yes.
