Mayweather, Pacroid B-hop and JMM are all elite Class "S" Legendary ATG fighters of this era

Cotto is a Class "A" great fighter and a champion and future HOF but not quite ATG or legendary like the Upper Class "S"

Class "B" are fighters like champions like Mayorga, Khan, Gatti, Hamed etc and possible future hall of famers

Class "C" are good fighters and are sometimes champions or long time contender that can give great fighters of class "A" trouble like Collazo over Hatton etc...

    See the difference?

If Cotto wants to drop back down to 147 lbs, Marquez and Heredia before the Pacquiao KO mentioned Cotto as a possible opponent for Marquez.

Mexico vs Puerto Rico. I'm sure Cotto would see this as a winnable fight for himself thinking he's bigger than Marquez.

Cotto is bigger, but he's not smarter. Has nowhere near the skillset of Marquez, and the most important thing to me in this matchup at 147 lbs, Cotto does'nt have near the stamina Marquez has if the opportunity came to him to eek out a fight.

Marquez imo stops Cotto late if this fight takes place in 2013!

Honestly who the hell would want to see this fight? Doesn't make logical sense for either fighter.

Marquez would know that Cotto would have worked extra hard to make weight. JMM would attack the body because any time a fighter has trouble making weight body shots are extra effective as he would weaken a little easier than usual. JMM would land his uppercuts all night since Cotto is susceptible to them. Not an easy win for JMM but a clear victory. He's too smart for Cotto. Prime Cotto probably beats JMM though. But wouldn't be surprised if JMM still wins.

marquez TKO, I could see cotto getting cut and having his ass handed to him most of the time against an elite fighter

Many are saying prime cotto would win easy, but I don't buy it so I should ask the biggest marquez fan on here which is you what do you think if its the cotto a few years ago at welter? I am not establishing marquez as a welter, wouldn't pick him to win against margo, clottey or the mosley cotto fought. But I really feel he could win against cotto because of cotto's weaknesses, what do you think? I feel also marquez could withstand his punches, possibly suffer knockdowns due to his poor balance but could score an amazing comeback in the late rounds where cotto usually fades

If Cotto was eating uppercuts vs Margos with his elbows flaring wide out wait till Marquez gets his hands on him.

JMM used to be too small but i think the current version takes any version of Cotto.

the "Marquez takes out any version of Cotto' Comments are hilarious. But as of right now, a weight drained Cotto making 147 against a PED using Marquez spells disaster for the Rican.

Prime Cotto was a come forward search and destroy fighter with very limited stamina, shaky chin and cut easily.
Add to that his elbows flare wide out and he was a sucker to be hit by uppercuts from even someone as slow as Margo.

Sounds about like the perfect style for JMM to look amazing against.
Cotto has a edge in size and power, JMM has more speed, more skill, better punch selection, WAY higher ring IQ, tons more stamina and more heart.

Marquez would probably get dropped early when hes still cold, at which point Cotto would foolishly try to finish him and get cut to pieces.

They are the same height and have the same reach as well so its not like Cotto would just box on the outside either.

I have always said that JMM would beat Cotto at any point in his career.

JMM is all wrong for Cotto. The one big thing here is speed in combinations and Cottos most hated punch. The uppercut. Who else throws better uppercuts than JMM? Not only that but he usually follows it up with great combinations. Cotto is just too open for a sharp shooter like JMM. His chin at any weight is really not that great either.

Would it be easy? No because Cotto is a top fighter but looking back at styles I just can not see Cotto winning this one. He is not stopping JMM and he is also not outboxing him. This would have FOTY written all over it and I would pick JMM to win via 8-4 decision with a possible stoppage later on.

JMM was droped by shitty Katsidis and bullied in one fight against light punching Diaz. Yea he won the Diaz fight but it wasnt so easy. So to say JMM would look amazing against a prime Cotto is not only a foolish statement, but also a very unrealistic.

Shane Mosley and Zab were fasters fighter than JMM and also much more harder punchers and Cotto handled those speeds and power very well.

He got caught by a big shot when he did not bring his hand back. He got up to punish Katsidis and win the round.

Diaz is nothing like Cotto. He throws over 100 punches per round and has more speed than Cotto. It was just a matter of JMM slowing him down. Remember the last guy Cotto fougth that threw around 100 punches per round(Margarito) not so easy to deal with. different styles son.

Mosley and Judah. Really? Both mentally weak guys who do not have a plan B ever and can not follow a game plan. The complete opposite of JMM. You forget people thought Mosley won the Cotto fight and Judah did some good work with the uppercut that JMM has perfected.
