Has anyone seen this fight in its entirety?

My copy has 10 rounds..I seemed to have lost my scorecard but I recall only giving Herrera one round...With 1 more round being even. I might score once more just so I have something on paper to be sure thats how I saw it but Venice had Herrera perplexed for much of what I saw and damaged his face horribly.

From that it would have taken something remarkable in the remaining rounds for Rafa to win this fight on my card..Like multiple knockdowns or point deductions.

Borkorsor was some fighter, he left Rafa looking something like a cross between Quasimodo and Emperor Palpatine by the final bell.

I've seen probably he same of version of this fight as you. A real gruelling battle in which I thought Borkosor looked like the winner. I think it was a close split to Herrera but the UPI gave it to Borkorser
Herrera couldn't really get to grips with Borkorsors southpaw style. Borkorsor was moving back and to Herrera's right, getting outside Herrera's straight rights and landing flush with left hooks, just couldn't miss him. Like you say Herrera ended up really banged up.
I'd love to see more of this fight if it's out there and more of Borkorsor, he must of been a good fighter, he was almost that country's first double champ.

Borkorsor was a beast. He must have been a real tank at Flyweight, destroying Betulio Gonzalez and shutting out the very good Salavarria are serious achievements.

    Bump..

Yeah I agree with much of that assessment Al.

Is the Gonzalez fight filmed Mante? For a man to do that to Betulio he would have most certainly been a beast.

In all my years of searching for a copy of the Gonzalez fight, I have come to the conclusion that it does not exist alas. Same goes for a complete copy of the Herrera fight, although I still hold out hope to find a complete copy someday. Borkorsor was a indeed a beast at fly, Betulio was a very tough hombre with solid whiskers and a good skillset and apparently Borkorsor just waltzed right thru him and beat him senseless before stopping him, no easy feat that is. He would give hell to anyone at or near his weight, easily one of the strongest fighters I have ever seen at the lower weights Venice was.

I'll need to watch this still. Always thought fairly highly of Herrera

Oddly enough, so did I.......I guess I wasn't as enamored of Borkhorsor as everyone else, though he certainly was strong. He showed no right hand at all, only the straight left. If it works, why fix it I guess. I stopped scoring when I realized there were rounds missing, but thought Herrera had the better of it at first glance.

Hey man, nice to see you again!

Agreed on Herrera, he was excellent. Wish more of him was available on youtube.

Same to you, Sal. How you been?

His performance against Olivares is one of the best Bantamweight performances on film, for my money

Been great, actually; married in June, new house was finished in October, and daughter born three weeks ago. 2012 was a huge year.

Olivares was just plain whipped in that fight. I think by the eighth hje just decided he'd had enough, because I didn't really see a damaging punch land that put him down.

Also thought the Castillo match was such excellent boxing, just a treat to watch.

    You still fighting then?

Congratulations for you man, thats great.

Yeh the Castillo match is a treat as you say. Castillo is another marvellous Mexican of that era, such a sweet but tough boxer.

Aye I am, been partying a bit too much lately, but getting back into the swing of boxing again. Started training with some professionals and really coming on more now. Just got to stay focussed.
