Throw one shot, hold for dear life. Ugly fight. 20-17 Maskaev. Neither is impressing me on any levels.
Round 3 Maskaev is jabbing high and pressing in. Beck bends forward and curls both arms in at Maskaev's body, eventually wrapping them around his waist. Break by Panin. Maskaev jabs and parries a looping right from Beck by flicking the arm out after the jabbing motion. A high 1-2 by Maskaev is ducked, and Beck grabs him around the waist again. HOLY CRAP! Bad cut on Maskaev. Where did that come from? Rights and hooks by Maskaev as Beck keeps swimming in, trying to clinch. Panin warns Beck for a 2nd time for leading with his head. Wild haymakers by Maskaev as Beck smothers in close to him. Finally Maskaev gets some range and scores a flush straight right, and Beck goes down as his legs evaporate. He's up with a minute left. Beck hugs Maskaev tightly. Panin breaks them up. Maskaev walks into a jab that snaps his head back but keeps clubbing with his right, and gets tied up. Maskaev shakes Beck off and continues to slam both arms down on him insistently. BIG 1-2 BY MASKAEV!! BECK ON HIS KNEES! He tries to straighten. Too wobbly. TKO3!!
Looked like a club fight. And while Maskaev showed some power I strongly stick to my "A few local fan showcases, then retire" verdict.
Beck is even more shot than Danny Williams. One of those guys that will just keep going until he is physically incapable of getting into a ring.
