That is always the thought process going in. You can commend him but the fact is Cotto thought that was a fight that he would win, no problem. That a case of when the cherry goes wild.:bbb
Totally forgot about that fight, how someone talented as Zab menaged to lose to Baldomir is beyond me.
Both were but how many fighters face their mandatory s? when is the last time Floyd Mayweather or Manny Pacquiao has? Cherry picking and the concept of Belt holders, in stead of Champions, the concept of the Ring Title the lineal fans opinion title, thats what killed the sport, because with all of that bull**** it gives the fighters excuses not to fight their mandatory's and the fans will always co sign it because Belts dont mean ****. Truth is we need meaning brought back to these belts because of the fighters follow the rules of the sanctioning bodies we the fans will always get much better fights you will always see the #1 challengers get their shot, you will always see #1 against #2 and perhaps unification here and there as well. if we continue to give fighters free passes in dumping these titles, you will never see how good they really are or are not and this is exactly how a guy like Andre Berto got a little over a Million dollars to get his ass kicked by a blown up light punching light weight
Cotto was basing that idea off of the Devlin Rodriguez Austin Trout fight and mixed with the fact that he hit Floyd Mayweather an awful lot in his last fight so in Miguels mind he was up there with Floyd and who the **** was trout... and that **** backfired on him in his back yard thank God
He never said that it would be an easy fight out of his mouth but his pre-fight mannerisims and the way he dissed Trout and his family testified to his thought process. Even the way he acted after the fight showed that. This ain't no hate on Cotto cause he is an excellent fighter but he called out Trout and not because he had love for Trout, but because he thought that he lift that belt without too much problems. WRONG!!:bbb
That wasnt exactly a cherry pick Senchenko was and still is a Legit top ten contender Hatton should have taken a soft opponent in his come back
