Pretty equal, they both fought the best fighters available and achieved great things.

He was using Balco supplements for the rematch for sure may have used steroids to help him move up the way he did Oscar has always been a clean fighter as far as we know.

and I for one believe that Shane lost the rematch with DLH

hard to figure how a guy who lost to Shane two times is greater than Shane but he is . More impressive wins and he didn't lose to Vernon or Winky 2 times.

Oscar tho h2h they pretty close. Shane won the first Oscar won the rematch betweem them. Too bad they never had a trilogy their rivalry was worthy of one.

The only people who say Mosley is greater than De La Hoya are guys who just look at boxrec and don't know anything about the De La Hoya fights.

Oscar De La Hoya = Top 35 ish all time.
Shane Mosley = Probably worse than top 100.

Oscar is greater although I have to believe Mosley in better.

When they met at their best Mosley won a clear decision. Oscar achieved much more but h2h I pick Mosley to beat him in their primes.

Were you aware that Mosley was busted for taking steroids in the first fight, and that in the rematch, ODLH landed 96 more punches that fight and scored more power punches. Boxing analysts say this is one of the biggest robberies in history.

Oscar was more explosive early in his career which is the difference.

While most recognize DLH was a beast at 135 and 140, they also say that Shane Mosley at 135 was a bit like a mini Roy Jones.

Luckily we got to see these two fight in their prime and saw the outcome. Great fight. Shane fought the tougher opponents, DLH has the better names.

Shane fought Winky, Forrest, Pacquiao, Cotto and Margarito when they were seen as prime fighters and at the highest point of their careers. He also fought Mayweather at a more comfortable weight for Floyd 147 while DLH made Floyd go up to 154 no catchweight. They beat the same guys in Leija, Molina, Vargas and Mayorga. Old Mosley also fought a young Canelo. Mosley has never been knocked out.

The verdict is, DLH is greater because of his wins. But Mosley fought the better fighters. Mosley's loss column reflects the competition he fought.

Good post Kevin, I def see where youre coming from with it.

Shane fought Winky, Forrest, Cotto and Marg.... which oscar indeed did not.

But Oscar fought prime Ike, prime Trinidad, and probably the toughest opponent between either of them, a still elite middleweight Bernard Hopkins. All opponent that Mosley never fought. So I think its fairly comparable to be honest.

    Idk....

The Balco scandal short changes Shane here, However Ike did come back and whip Forrest IMO, Oscar beat a Prime Ike, He did IMO beat a Prime Tito, and he also beat Vargas who most suggest was destroyed by Trinidad, However being on Steroids at the time I suggest that Vargas had allot in him the night he fought DLH.

Shane may have fought Winky and Forrest but he lost to them both twice, and lets not forget Nando got himself a win over Winks close but he nabbed it (though I thought Winky won)
