In my opinion, these two fighters simply don't get the respect they deserve and are rarely mentioned on the boxing forums... Makes me sad These two fighters are elite, humble and beat ATGS in their prime.
You're right about Holmes anyway. I'm not sure about Lewis. Lewis was a talented fighter but I rate him in the top 30 somewhere but not top 10. Just my opinion. In all fairness Lewis didn't beat any ATG's in their prime. Lewis was a good fighter no doubt but I was never sold on him. And neither guy is particularly humble. Holmes says that in his prime he beats any fighter ever. Lewis refers to himself as the pugilist specialist and says he is "right up there with Ali."
How did he not beat ATGS? Evander/Vitali/Tyson AREN'T ATGS? :tired There are others, but too lz to list thema ll.
many people include the names Holmes or Lewis in their top ten greatest heavyweights ever. i will squeeze Holmes into my top ten lists more often than Lewis, i'll confess.
Everyone always talks about Ali/Louis/Foreman/Frazier/Johnson/Marciano/Dempsey. Holmes/Lewis seems to be vastly underrated and RARELy talked about.
This :good Plus neither Holmes or Lewis could be called humble, Holmes was bitter and arrogant. Lewis started off pretty humble but was an arrogant **** towards the end of his career. Also to say Lewis never gets talked about is utter bollocks. Since Wlads domination Lewis has become some unbeatable monster You really need to look up the word humble in the dictionary. Both great fighters but Holmes > Lewis.
larry isnt talked about much and deserves more, but lewis is well recognised, loads of people have mim top 3 of all time and 2nd H2H, and a few have him the greatest H2H ever
Larry Holmes was underappreciated when he was active. Not underrated these days among the boxing fans. If anything it's gone the other way.
