Silence hater, Joe's career has an almost complete arc ending with moving up to a different division and beating the man there in his second last fight.

The only thing he's missing is poor financial planning leading him to fight on and rack up humiliating losses like so many American fighters do.

 

Lewis is a good shout actually,

Olympic gold as an amateur.
Started well in the Pro ranks, beat Gary Mason in his 15th fight,
World Champion and avenged every defeat he suffered.
Retired on top, faculty's intact and with a **** load of cash.

 

It must be horrible trying to defend Calslappy's dog**** resume. I wish for your sake you had a better fighter's nuts in your mouth.

Being really complete: Langford/Robinson- those guys threw it all in there

losses are beautiful in a sense. It shows you had the balls to do as much as you can till you couldn't anymore. Unlike those who mold and shape their career around public perception :-(

 

Ricardo Lopez - won titles from every major org and was a champion in 2 divisions. Undefeated and well respected. Never ducked the big name fighter around him

 

I know you're on the wind-up, but watch Arguello vs Pryor II and Pacquiao vs Morales III.

 

He also got a bronze medal in the olympics before the won gold. Doesn't get much more complete than that!

To be honest, Pacquiao had a complete plus career, I thought he would be done after Barrera II and the abysmal showing there.
Alexis Arguello (move up a weight division, fight the top four guys, move up a weight division, fight the top four guys, move up a weight division, rinse and repeat until Pryor)
Duran
Holyfield (fought everybody and probably deserved a win over Valuev to boot)
James Toney (from middleweight to heavyweight, some great wins)

I want to disagree with this, but I can't conjure any examples of it being otherwise. All I'll say is that it doesn't necessarily have to be that way, but it has been so far.(if that makes any sort of sense)

 

It would be far more horrible if Calzaghe had been bad enough to lose to a worthless Yank fighter like Hopkins. Oops i forgot, Hopkins ducked Joe in 2002 after agreeing to the fight, and took on the equally useless Yank Carl Daniels instead.:rofl

 

nah, his resume is lacking top wins against top fighters. I would say joe calzaghe had a better resume than him and had a better career. Calzaghe may have fought some weak opposition during his title defense run but he won the belt against a great champion and ended his career with a bang against top opposition

 

Floyd could have 3-4 more years.

mayweather - if he retired and keep his 0 intact, he would go down in history as the best fighter who had a perfect record, right now he is rank higher than other fighters who retired with their 0 intact(calzaghe,marciano,lopez) and he is still active. After his fight with guererro it would be good if he could fight alvarez and end his career perhaps with a rematch against marquez
