Which bias (generally, it doesn't have to be true 100% of the time) is more strong to you when watching a fight? If the first and second options are generally what you root for, then if the two fighters each had one be true but not the other, which one would you generally root for?
Race doesn't come into play for me. Cultural identity can come into play if I know nothing about either man and I have a particular affinity for one of their backgrounds. As the fight progresses, my shallow preference could shift based on their style, attitude, behavior, etc.
Genuinely none of them. I find alot of people root for fighters from the same country as them, but i generally dislike British fighters (i'm British). Khan, Fury, Burns and Cleverly are probably my top 4 most disliked fighters so that's clearly not the case with me. I normally like fighters based on their attitude, their personality and their style of fighting. My top 3 favourite active fighters are Froch, Marquez and Floyd based on different traits. Froch and Marquez will fight anywhere anytime and are all class and i love Floyd based on his insane skill level. I'm rational enough to accept that Floyd should have fought better competition at times over the years, Froch will never be good enough to beat Andre Ward and Marquez's resume is fairly thin outside of the Pacquiao fights.
none of the above. There aren't even good boxers from my country, and I don't care about race either. Attitude and style is what makes me like or dislike a fighter.
I tend to want British fighters to do well. What it is, I watch most of the big fights, but I have to do it on my own. Nobody I know wants to sit up until 4 to watch Ward-Kessler. On the other hand, Ward-Froch can be a bigparty night loads of fun, up until 6 shitfaced and having a laugh. The more a British fighter loses the further away those Hatton type nights get, and I like them.
Yeah, same. Although my style and attitude preferences clearly differ from yours. How is there no "none of the above" option in there? :blood
Haha! Yeah, I noticed that... We are at opposite sides in most bouts :yep And this poll really needed the NOTA option.
Mostly on styles and attitude like has been said. I like boxers who leave it all in the ring, I also like boxers who surprise me.
