The notion that Marquez was sluggish vs Pacquiao is nonsense

    Exactly this. :deal

People mention the 3rd Pac fight but Marquez's body shape and training regime have both changed significantly since then.

We'd need to see him in with a Bradley or a Guerrero to see his current level of speed and fluidity. It's impossible to gauge from the Pac fight imo, mainly due to the way he elected to fight. Pac looked very fast though, as fast as i'd seen him in a long time.

How do you explain Marquez weighing only 1lb more in the 4th fight than he did the 3rd, and was actually lighter by 3 lbs climbing the ring this fourth fight than he was for the 3rd?

This Marquez is a beast, seriously! Not sluggish just the Perfect Marquez, as pefect as you can be at 39, I wish him the best, and hope he convinces his family to fight for at least 2-4 more fights. He can end his great career, with career enhancing fights like Bradley, Cotto at 147 if Cotto beats Paulie, and end it with Mayweather 2. and a farewell fight in Mexico with PACQUIAO..

damn I wish this could happen.

    Marquez-Bradley Early 2013
    Marquez Cotto Late 2013
    Marquez May Early 2014
Marquez PACQUIAO farewell fight in Mexico, Late 2014

I dont see Cotto coming down to 147. Definitely an interesting match up but highly unlikely imo. Cotto gets so big between fights i dont think hed be very healthy or as strong at the weight. I wonder if he will want to rematch Trout at some point. He cant win that fight with one hand.

Marquez Bradley would be great. So as long as Tim keeps that damn head out the fight. He did a good job not being careless with t vs Pac. Danny Garcia vs Marquez would be great as well. And everyone already knows id love to see Mayweather Marquez 2.

Im sure Marquez will continue to fight. He is a fighter and he has preserved himself well enough to continue for a few more fights at least. Hes got plenty left in the tank. Bradley, Rios, Garcia and Mayweather should be on his hitlist for sure.

What's funny is as I was watching, I was having a kind of Charlton Heston moment...Manny was getting the better of the use of angles and Marquez was focusing on power-punches. The first two were close, and the 3rd round knockdown gave me confidence, but the 4th & 5th had me worried. Manny was teeing off, and Marquez kept eagerly lunging with that right hand. I said to myself, this is how everyone originally saw the 3rd fight going...an overzealous aggressive Marquez against a Pac that wears the weight better capitalizing on his negotiated advantages..."you finally did it, you *******s..."

But then it was all good :D

Your avatar my friend, its the perfect example of what I talked about earlier of JMM planting his feet more in this 4th fight to land with power.
There's a creece in that photo for Marquez to land the left to the body! :yep

It was a risky game plan but it payed off.

Pacquiao also boxed very well. That's the best I've seen him since Cotto. I was glad about that as well.

As I said to my mate before the fight "If Marquez wins this time I want him to win against a Pacquiao that looks good otherwise people will say Pacquiao is shot."

Pacquiao did look good so even bigger props to Juan! Legend!

As above. No excuses. Pac boxed to the top of his game, but it just wasn't good enough against the better fighter on the night.

In the third fight he looked to be off balance a lot.

Pacquiao was just fighting a better fight the 4th time around compared with the 3rd fight...

Marquez was going to the body...

Pacquiao dropped his hands when he thought he was out of range enabling Marquez to throw his right hand which dropped him...

Then in the 5th Pacquiao hurt him and beat him up pretty badly... -despite this Marquez avioded quite a few punches and got his own body shots off...

Then moving into the 6th it was clear Marquez was only going to deteriate... BUT Pacquiao was abit careless and Marquez was ready to throw the greatest punch of his career when the opportunity presented itself.

Brilliant fight. Think they held only once early on when getting their ranges worked out.

Its not that Pacquiao dropped his hands when he was knocked down in the 3rd rd. Its that Marquez landed two hard left hooks to the body prior to the kd followed by feinting the left hook body shot, Pac reacted to the feint and attempted to block it and also making the mistake of backing up in a straight line(Roach even told him after the rd, dont back up in a straight line). Marquez looped the right around Pacs guard which Pac never saw due to the left hook feint and thats what caused the knockdown.

Marquez wasnt deteriorating at all. He clearly stated that nacho focused on the cut on top of the nose rather than inside of it. The bleeding could have been stopped after the 6th and if anyone was going to slow down, it would be Pac since he was already starting to cramp up. Marquez was still lively and was landing that perfect right hand all night. He would have knocked pac out sooner or later with that right hand or a body shot. Also as i stated before, a big difference in this fight is Marquez began to throw bombs and time Pacquiao in the last 10 seconds of every rd, Pac always flurries during this time to finish strong, and Marquez was trying to take his head off :yep

He sat down on his shots more in this fight looking for that right hand you could see it as early as the 1st round.
Whats nonsense here are those punch stats which showed Marquez to only land two shots on Pacquiaos chin.... Okay there were two knock downs in the fight, However Marquez touched Mannys chin with that right hand and with his jab several times before that final knock down.
its a god damn shame the way HBO loves to mislead the viewer, they actually have some saying that Manny was dominating the fight or even winning the fight :-(
