The notion that Marquez was sluggish vs Pacquiao is nonsense

Train for a KO? At FORTY years old with the same trainer, I SERIOUSLY DOUBT JMM had to train or learn anything. He has always been a good puncher with KO power. This was the same Marquez albeit a little bit older and slower. Pac's lucky wins caught up to him. Even and old JMM is better than a PEDcquiao in his prime. It's the style. JMM doesn't stand there like a punching bag like most of Pac's cherry picked opponents.

The guy that hosts the ESPN golpe a golpe with Marquez, along with a panel of other journalist conducted an extensive interview with Marquez on spanish ESPN right after the post fight press conference.
A question posed to him was how hurt was he in that 5th round?
Marquez said the right hand Pacquiao caught him busted his nose up and hurt him, but it was not to the extent where he felt he was in danger to get stopped. Marquez noted he was firing hard shots right back at Pacquiao as well during that sequence.

Then the question was posed that he had gotten hit alot in this fight, it seemed like that would be Pacquiao's fight, Marquez responded something to the effect that circumstances dictated he be aggressive with Pacquiao.
He went on to say that he employed an intelligent type of aggressiveness.
"I felt I could take his best shots, which is why I took more risks to land power."

......and again, some clowns in this forum want to pretend Pacquiao was in control of the happenings with the KO punch came.

I keep posting round 6 as proof Pacquiao had no such control, and those that want to continue to lay that claim simply ignore my round 6 posting.

Here it is again. Marquez turns the tide midway throught the 6th an is actually getting the better of the exchanges.
The KO shot did'nt come out of nowhere. Marquez was re-astablishing himself having turned the tide midway through the round when he lured Pacquiao to take steps toward him to land that KO punch!

    Here's the 6th round again, where's Pacquiao's control???????

He obviously wasn't a zombie. The guy won the fight by KO. He did look and function, however, his age and the bulk

Maybe if he committedto all his punches like Manny does for each fight, there wouldnt have been a 2nd and 3rd fight..

Training camp is more than just physical training and learning.
Its about focusing on specific aspects of the gameplan.

Driving the right hand foward to land with greater mass and power was a big focus in this 4th fight with Pacquiao.

As well with Paquiao, Roach had him focusing more on ducking and lateralling after he initiated aggression.

Both fighters did well with their camp adjustments, but as allways between two elites, its the fighter that makes the tweaks inside the ring that wins out with the public if not the corrupt officials.:deal

You're right about one thing though, manuevering Pacquiao into the position for Marquez to land that KO punch is not something that is learned in a few short weeks of camp. That comes with years of acquired experience and know how.:bbb

    1. Its a shame boxing is so corrupt, a fighter like Marquez has to deviate from his boxing skill strenghths in order to find a way to come out with his hands raised without scorecards being read.

    2. In the face of movement and sharp counterpunching, Manny Pacquiao commited less to his punches in fight 3 than Marquez did.
Virtually all the clean connects with leverage and torque behind the shots were landed by Marquez in that fight. Marquez' movement and sharp counterpunching reduced Pacquiao to an ineffective arm puncher.
..... so it has nothing to do with commiting to punches and everything to do with the sport being agenda driven.

It was so obvious in the replay that Marquez lured Pacquiao in and set him up for the KO.

You can see JMM thinking, he was going to Chase Pac, his hand seems to get caught in the rope, either that or he stopped himself from punching, he takes a couple steps back, and ****s Pacquiao up to win the fight by KO! Just like he practiced in training.

In the sweet science, not everyone needs to fight like a ****ing caveman. Many of us appreciate and most of the time prefer the art of "boxing". If you like wild ass **** over the sweet science, go watch UFC.

Thank you, while even if Juan is not as fast as he used to be,he was sitting on his punches, usually it's rapid fire not knock out intentions with each punch.. He knocked Pac on his ass to the point Pac's legs were in the air..
