    Pongsaklek Wonjongkam had 7 fights in 2011 when he held the WBC flyweight belt. The four worst of them had a combined record of 2-9.

    those four were non title. guess i didn't make it clear. I was thinking that a boxing champion could beat joe louis record by having excellent match-making managers.

    For example: 30 straight world title defenses, perhaps 5 of which were against top ten rated contenders.

    No they can't fight anyone. They can only fight someone in the sanctioning body's top 15.

    doesnt chavez hold the record?, I thought he got 27 in a row, Louis got 25 (22 KO's) - highest for a HW.

    Thats what I thought anyway

    With the internet and all that comes along with it, top level fighters today can't get away with fighting bums like past great fighters from Robinson to Chavez were able to do....Nowadays fans and media folks alike want top level fighters to fight nothing but elites each time out,which is why fighters only fight 2-3 times a year and don't last that long as well.

    checkout James Toneys run as 168 champion, probably the worst run of consecutive of opponnents faced by any reigning champion in the modern day history of the sport, ****ing disgracefull stuff.

    I assume you mean his non title fights, because Tony Thornton, Tim Littles, Charles Williams and Roy Jones Jr (unsuccesful defence) isn't a bad list of opponents at all to be defending a title against. Now the 7 guys he faced in non title fights, they were pretty bad, only Anthony Hembrick could you come even close to saying was a half reasonable fight (probably why he fought him twice :lol:)
