Saw this a while back thought id post on here for anybody that hasn't seen it, they talk about boxing who hit them hardest and how they would fight eachother [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CGo5K_VPtIk[/ame]
Great video. That must have been around April or May 1951, when Joe Louis was still trying to fight. They talk about an upcoming Charles vs Maxim. Presumably Charles was champion. That fight occurred in May 1951.
I met both men, Dempsey I spoke to for a longer period but both were classy men and very intelligent and humble...They were Great fighters of their respective era's and Dempsey stood out as the 1st modern day Heavyweight and Louis still stands out as a guy who fought the best of his era and every size, color and style..IMO
THANK YOU! I remember that time, when icons were classy; no chance of today's tirades, expletives, brawls. Love Dempsey's nods and bows and instant courtesy. What a thrill to see him! Louis, just an impressive-looking, relaxed gentleman, as always. Great little insight on this fantasy matchup: Louis would jab, cross and uppercut; Dempsey would rely on his left hook--the same that flattened Willard--upstairs and downstairs and then come over with the right. Dempsey's chin can hold up better, though, which I think would be the difference.
