snowy baker, a silver medalist at an early olympic games, was a jealous and merciless slanderer of les darcy. he slandered darcy to his grave. australia never forgave him.

mundine....well, aussies just dont like big mouths.

Very true, but Aussies also don't support humble, talented boxers (anymore). And I'm not talking about boxing fans, I'm talking about general Aussie sports fans. They hate Mundine yet watch every fight. Ask your average Green/Tszyu-loving, Mundine-hating sports fan about Robbie Peden, and they'll look at you like you're speaking ****ing Spanish. And why?? He was a legit title-holder who faced the likes of Barrera and Marquez, yet he had embarrassingly little home support.

If not for Mundine, nobody would know who the **** Geale or Green were in the mainstream sports public. And many would be hard pressed to name a Katsidis fight they'd seen other than the one on the Mundine/Kessler undercard.

Mundines effect on other fighters I think has been huge. 2 fighter , Green and Briggs, at there primes were very close in weight very close in skills and I would have loved to have seen them fight for real in there primes ( I saw 6 rounds sparring at fenechs Gym which really wetted the appetite ) however Green is 10 times better known and made a 100 times more money I would say Mundine had a large effect on this.

I think you will find that Geales persona will grow greatly after his next fight with Mundine as well

This is because mundine is Aussie boxing and has been since he started. God he sold over 16000 ppv buys in his first fight. Geale unified in Germany and didn't get 3000

still, despite all mundines so called 'achievements' the general public, AND real boxing fans, cant stand to listen to mundine speak, always hope he gets KTFO....which he has done twice.

once to a light hitting ottke, who put mundine in a coma. so little did the ref OR EVEN his corner care about his prostrate, unconcious welfare, it took 13 seconds to pull the mouthguard from his prostrate form.

GARTH WOOD, a novice, an ex rugby league player, knocked mundine out. any thoughts of greatness dissapeared with that KO. greats dont get beaten by average novices. let alone get KTFO by them. the public ate it up. they loved it. just like the ottke KO, there was dancing in the streets.

i cant think of another fighter, in the history of australian boxing, that the australian public hoped a bloke from another country would beat our own fighter. such is the dislike for the big mouthed, bullshitter, mundine.

perhaps it was his 911 statements that started it? or perhaps his slander of kathy freeman? was it because he said he was better than bradman? there is so much to dislike about mundine, that he is rated in the top two all time hated sportsmen in any sport in australias history.

daniel geale. do us all a favour. WIN. AND WIN WELL!

Danny Green owes a massive chunk of his mainstream recognition to Anthony Mundine. He was the hero to Mundine's villain. If not for a villain to face (win or lose), I honestly think he's be like another Robbie Peden. A tough, honest Aussie bloke who nobody knows won a championship.

It wasn't any of that **** you said. It started way before that. If you want to get pissed at anyone for Mundine's horrible public persona, blame our country's apathetic view towards the rest of our boxers. They wouldn't support him otherwise, so who can blame him??

Yes he was, it was the Mundine/Kessler event. I worked off memeory so I couldn't tell you the opponent without checking back on boxrec. Some guy named Addisu Tebebu.
