I have no issue with it really, i would be more disturbed if it was someone like Guerrero being the FOTY. What i do have an issue with however, is the fact that JMM is at #3 when he should be at #2. :deal

Its all good, JMM getting the KO of the year and being in the Fight of the Year is good enough, and him KTFO of Pacquiao >> anything a silly Mag says. :happy:hi:

He needs to win more fights aside from Berto. Donaire's got 4 impressive victories this year.

I had Nonito as my #1 too, with JMM as #2... much better as the Guerrero option that DLH came up with.

But it was a single victory, and i it was a KO of a fighter who has been on the fade for a couple of years. In terms of single victories, I'm not even sure if it was any more impressive than Ward's decimation of Dawson.

Donaire became champ at 122lbs and dismantled a well regarded opponent that many (yourself included) thought would give him some trouble.

I say Nonito deserves it...and I'm glad that RING magazine didn't pick Guerrero after all.

Well it's good to know that The Ring does not match up with DLH's opinion

everything else you said i have no problem with, as for the highlighted, come on, man thats going a little too far dont you think?

Pacquiao, as faded as he is (in which JMM is as well) is still far better than Dawson, who he himself had to drain himself to 168lbs from 175lbs.

JMM has the single best victory this whole year by far and its not even debatable, man. Dawson getting outclassed was nowhere close to be as shocking and unexpected than Manny getting KTFO cold like he did.

How can Marquez be given credit for knocking out a part time boxer? Come on, he's 39 and his win is even clouded with PED talks while Donaire even volunteered for year round dope testing.

His win is only clouded with PED talks by butthurt *******s. :deal

That part time boxer was ranked at #2 and if im correct, he was still the favorite to win against the 39 year old Marquez, whom many were saying that he looked like **** in his last bout. Manny was coming out of a win (**** what the judges say) over a p4p rated undefeated young lion in his prime. :deal

Marquez KO win over Pacquiao will be forever talked about. :deal:hi:

ridiculous to give this title strictly on activity.. Why just not give it to Santa Cruz then.

Marquez, Martinez, Mares, Viloria, Ioka, Matthysse Froch and Garcia all deserved it more imo

Maybe I might be exaggerating a bit, but honestly, I expected Dawson to do a lot better against Ward than he did, and wasn't expected SOG to look nearly as good as he did...weight drain or no. Win the fight...? Yeah, that was possible . Put him down three times and convince him to quit...? I don't anyone expecting that to happen.

In contrast, there was the sense going into IV that Manny might be there for the taking this time around,; and even though he did look a lot better than he had in previous fights, there was still the question of whether he was gonna be able to sustain that level of brilliance.

Granted, the KO was sudden as hell, and it's still an impressive achievement to be sure...But in there were other single results that were (nearly) as impressive and shocking in their own way.

Still, the zult allowed JMM to enter the discussion in a big way, and I'll certainly admit that there was a damned good reason why that should have happened. :good

Pacquiao despite being a part time boxer and part time politician was winning before that KO and Marquez was about to go until that one punch that knocked out Pac. It's not as if Marquez was dominating Pacquiao the while time. Anyway, Pacquiao lost by KO, and it happened to the best boxers like Lewis, Tyson, Klitscho, etc. But one win does not make Marquez the fighter of the year. There are a lot of things to consider like the fighter's activity, quality of opponents, etc.

Why would JMM be considered above Nonito when Pacquaio is supposed to be a talentless fraud by ESBers?
