Fight was very competitive. People like to act like Morales dominated him - not even close. They also like to point out Morales wasn't in his prime - but neither was Pacquiao. He was young and fit, but he wasn't in his prime. He was still a fairly raw, one-handed fighter who had 0 defense and a non-existant right hand. When Pac figured out how to use his right hand and had some kind of a defense, it turned into a different fight the 2nd time, and the 3rd was a white-wash, even tho Morales was pretty spent at that point.

That second fight was a mirror image of the first until Erik's body gave out. He had just lost to Raheem at 135 and looked like **** in doing so. Looked like death at the weigh-in *AT 135*. Was not prime.

EM begged Pac to give him a catchweight of 132 for that second fight, Pac said "**** you" and forced him to drain down to 130 (something that him and Freddie would later become notorious for), and was still winning the early portion of the fight.

This all with Pac's supposed improved defense and vaunted Manila Ice.

 

:nut Wouldn't have mattered? It already happened. Pac TKO'd him the second time and destroyed him the 3rd time.

 

Of course anyone can lose their prime even in their 20's. Its called lifestyle. Anyone that gets caught living in the fast lane or unhealthy habits takes its toll. 20 somethings can end up looking and feeling 20 yrs older.

 

Yes it was very similiar to the first i.e. very comeptitive, with both having there moments ; however Pac took over about the mid-rounds after he put a terrible beating on Morales in maybe the 5th or 6th round. It was over after that.

Erik already had lost to a fighter he would of beaten anyday in his prime thats why Manny will never get full credit. He does have the distinction of being the first to ko Morales, but not even close to a prime Morales. Unfortunately, Erik and Manny never fought each other when both at the sametime were in their primes.

 

You don't think Erik might have recovered better if his body wasn't a wreck? When had he ever not responded?

 

As if the Pacquiao that Morales beat is Prime. Pac is also moving up in weight.

You're right in my mind, I had to watch it just now to remember how much damage Pac received. Don't get me wrong Pac dealt his fair share, but Morales was obviously the more brutal, effective man that night. And the balls to go southpaw in the 12th I forgot about too, upped my already massive respect for Morales reliving that one.

Pac was moving up in weight? I don't hear you guys ever mention that in Floyd vs Castillo, Oscar, Corley or Cotto
