You give Tito **** for the Oscar fight but won't give Oscar **** for the Quartey and Whitaker fights. Trinidad would have knocked Quartey's head off his shoulders
Oscar DID almost knock Quartey's head off his shoulders. Trinidad wouldn't even fight him. Best fighter Tito fought was Oscar and it took him 6 years to do so after he won his title, instead Tito beat up on cabbies- with guys like Pea when he wasn't in rehab, Ike Quartey, Rivera, Lopez all in the division :hi:
Tito and Ike were suppose to fight but Ike had some promoter or managerial problems that prevented it I believe and Tito was always willing to fight Pernell since 94 but Pea didn't fight Tito until Pea knew he had nothing to lose in doing so.
Don't know why you're talking about Mayweather. Martinez was caught with the left against Macklin as well. And despite his defense Martinez is relatively open to the body. Martinez is very good but he hasn't faced anyone on Tito's level so we can't be sure his stylistic strengths translate. Don't see at all how he's undersized, he could still crack at 154, absolutely destroyed Joppy. And just because he wasn't known for his right hand doesn't mean he didn't have one, his right hand was better than most fighters in terms of accuracy and power. And both Tito's chin and power was more solid than Martinez's. Whitaker was still game as a defensive fighter when Tito fought him, I don't see Martinez being so defensive that Tito rarely lands.
A sluggish Pavlik had a degree of success against Martinez. I think a precision combo-hitter like Tito would find Martinez relatively often and hurt him. Tito either by late stoppage or clear UD with a knockdown or two in the mix, maybe even a knockdown of himself. That's where Sergio's best chance would lie - catching Tito and taking him out first. He'd have a decent shot at that.
these youngsters don't know about Tito or Oscar or Mosely at 135 or Chavez or Whitaker ......man it's crazy
