Has there ever been a more inactive ATG than Floyd Mayweather Jnr ?

Dempsey boxed ten times in his last eight calender years as a pro.

Mayweather has fought twelve times in the last eight calender years (excluding '13).

Take into account the fact that Dempsey fought twice in the year after he lost the title and you have a crazy leve of inactivity as the world's best.

    Chavez v Haugen apparently 136k.

Yeah Dempsey looks more inactive especially given the era.

Why was Dempsey so inactive? seems weird considering the era he fought in.

He have trouble with his hands or something?

People have to remember that May 4th will be Floyd's 44th fight. He will also be 36 years old.

Taking a look at the current ring P4P list, it's unlikely that Ward, Donaire, Bradley, Guerrero and possibly Broner will reach 44 fights in their respective careers.

Floyd was active until he was 30, fighting 2,3,4 times per year.

Get over it and appreciate the few fights we have left from the man.

Floyd is the most annoying/frustrating sports man I know off. It's an insult to the fans who have made him how rich he is for him to take such long lay off's and avoid the top level guys out there. We've made you your fortune, give something back!

I don't think anyone needs to "get over" anything people would just like to see him fight more.

And to be honest, as much as I will undoubtedly watch the Guerrero fight i'm not really arsed about "appreciating" it.

I'd appreciate it if he fought Pacquiao or Alvarez, or even plucked up the courage to tackle Martinez.

    Guerrero? not so much.

But i'll be watching, and paying to watch, which is all Floyd is bothered about.

Get over what ? It was a question cos i was interested to know other champions who've fought so little. It's like he's been an exhibition fighter for the last few years.

And yeah he's had a fair few fights in his career but after Hatton he's fought 4 ****in times.

Again i wasnt knocking him just wondering what other examples there are.

Leonard only had 12 fights the entire decade of the 80's & was considered "Fighter of the Decade".

****ing hell mate, I'm gonna state the OVERWHELMINGLY obvious point here.

Care to list who he fought in that decade?

Wasn't Victor ****ing Ortiz was it?

I'm not questioning the opponents "Mate" just giving an answer.

Well the fact of who his opponents were pretty much makes up for the inactivity doesn't it?

It has a lot more to do with protecting Golden Boy fighters the Cotto fight solidified my belief regarding that as he clearly backed off, when Cotto was on jelly legs, Manny did the same with Margarito and Cotto IMO.

Why ruin a fighter, when you could possibly milk a rematch out of them in the future

Not the worst example but it's definitely disappointing. I remember getting excited for him to put a master-class on Ortiz, hoping Ortiz would do well just to bring out the best of Floyd, and he had to ruin it with an ending nobody paid to see. He doesn't do himself any favors.
