When exactly was Morales "prime" anyway?

It seems toi have been exceptionally short.

Does no one else find it funny that fans wait until their fighter gets beaten to say he was "past prime"

NO Morales fan was saying he was past prime when he beat Pacquiao in the first fight.

However,10 months and 2 losses later, we're supposed to believe he was "shot"

Man, the actual mechanics of fighting an in and out southpaw eludes most here. Left hook artists suck against manny, prime or not. Right hands rock him. Bottom line. You need a good right hand to land consistently on Pac. The reason the floyd fight was compelling stylistically was pacs broken rhythm straight left that the shoulder roll doesn't block and Floyd's great right hand.

 

Actually you watch the Morales fight and you will see that a left can be used very effectively against Manny. Especially the left hook. But you are right about having a constant right hand. And actually to comment on how you think FLoyd's style cant block a left hand your more than wrong there. Floyd against Ortiz placed his foot foot purposefully on the inside of Ortiz lead foot which is a no no technically but he could still shoulder roll Ortiz left because of this positioning or use the elbow as a shield to block Ortiz' jab almost every time. If he did this versus Manny it would be highly effective due to Manny sidestepping to his left after a lunge. He did so versus JMM and Morales. If you also watch Floyd vs Zab you will see he effectively uses the straight right , left hook combo that left Judah to resort to dirty ball hitting. Bottom line is I still want to see Manny and Floyd fight regardless of Manny's state hes in now. It still is basically the "biggest" fight that can be made but not best.

I am a huge Morales fan but pac haters like to pretend that fight was more lopsided than it was. For starters, Morales did not switch to southpaw just because he thought it would be bad ass. he was trying to put himself in a position to land a huge right hand. Secondly it almost got him KO'd he ate some big shots and almost went down that round. It was a good competitive fight, though morales was the clear winner.

 

Morales' first fight with Barrera was prime. Pac got the watered down version. Morales wasn't shot, he just wasn't at his peak. His peak was around 97 - 2002. He was easily on his downward slope by the time he fought pac

 

Morales was getting ****ed up and everybody was yelling at him to stop switching, and then he just suddenly switches right back and brawls some more

 

So move on TEN whole years later and what was he???

 

No, he switched to be bad ass. His father said in the corner, don't do anything stupid. He doesn't switch the entire fight. Is CLEARLY ahead on the cards and knows it. He wasn't trying to win the last round as though he needed it, no he knew he could give it up comfortably. And he knew he had a bad ass chin to do it too.


Those of you who don't think Morales was faded haven't seen his career nor how well and how beast he performed at his best. You have no clue.
