Not a knock on Ray Leonard, but this man retired/went on more vacations than FMJ

Of course Ray has fought more ATGS than May and deserves to be in the ATG spot that he's in but this man has retired and definitely been more inactive in his 80's than Floyd in the 2000's.

Yes indeed SRL had a detached RETINA and required surgery and time to heal

But after 2007, Floyd also had acute pains in his body and required a lot of healing to get back into fighting form.

In the 70's, he was facing nobodies/cab drivers until Benitez so I don't want to hear "He fought 5-6 times every year in the 70's"

This man retired after 82 (Finch fight)

Then 84 he comes back, gets knocked down and retires again

Beats Hagler, then RETIRES again and puts up massive roadblocks for a 2nd Hagler fight

    Norris, THEN RETIRES again

    Then 97.

What I'm getting at is people keep shitting on FMJ because of his inactivity. Ray Leonard was JUST if not more inactive than Mayweather.

Mayweather at least fights once a year/sometimes twice

Ray after 84 was just waiting to pounce on Hagler and waiting for the right time to eat him up (After Mugabi fight)

No one is arguing this. SRL definitely deserves to be ranked much higher than FMJ due to quality of opposition. But activity will hinder his rankings.

Yet Ray came back and beat the best. Floyd not so much. Though I get your point and you're right May does get too much flack.

I know, but Mayweather ALSO was the same. His body required healing, he was having acute pains.

    Selective memory much?

Agreed. No one is disproving SRL's quality of opposition. But his constant retiring definitely does hinder his atg rankings a slight bit

Leonard gave birth to this kind of mindset.

You won't find me shitting on the saviour of boxing but you're going about this the wrong way MVC.
And you're leaving yourself wide open to *******s here because there was only one fight that would've had the same sort of potential(not my opinion) as SRL-Hagler to come back from his longest lay-off for.

The man clearly had brittle hands, it caused floyds first knockdown.
Iv said this whenever floyd cops flack for his in activity. If leonard was around these days the same floyd haters would hate on leonard
