can you please explain to everyone here why a "torch" even needs to be passed? what is the purpose of this? and when was the last time a "torch" fight happened? surely you must have some sort of signifgant reference regarding this coveted "torch" that you seen to deem as so releveant to the wbc super welterweight belt and boxing in general, no? also, can you please explain to everyone here when was the last time a WBC champion made two title defenses against two different oppenents that were both coming off two UD defeats(cotto, mosely)? surely this must be a common occurrance, right? in fact, do you have an example where a wbc champion, or any champion for that matter, made a title defense against an opponent coming off a two consecutive UD losses(mosely)? please explain. im sure that there are many other esb forum members that are intereseted in the answers to these questions.
I think Trout has received a good public following after beating cotto. The promotional program showed him in a very lilkable light and a potential star. They will want to see how much money they can get out of him before he gets more high risk fights. canelo will have to wait
it's boxing history you ****...every decade has a few passing of the torch fights....deal with it and move on, or choose another sport if you really need me to explain to you why chavez vs oscar, floyd vs chicanito, and hatton vs kostya had to happen, then you're an idiot
At the "seen" Alvarez said Trout is still in play for May fight. Team will choose opponent within the next 2 weeks. (Team Canelo already building for camp)
idiot? last i checked tszyu was on a 13 fight win streak and coming off two consecutive knockout WINS, not losses before the hatton fight. and the last i checked chavez was coming off four and six consecutive WINS, not losses before before both dlh fights. and the last i checked chicanito was coming off six consecutive WINS, not losses before the mayweather fight. unlike your "torch" candidate cotto who is coming off two consecutive UD LOSSES, not WINS. now please, explain to us here when was the last time a champion of any organization(wbu, ibo, ANY ORGANIZATION) defended his belt against an opponent coming off two UD losses(never mind the fact that said opponent mosely was moving up in weight)? now couple that with the fact that you are justifying that canelo defend his belt yet again against another opponent(cotto) coming off two consecutive UD losses trying to rationalize this with some ludicrous "torch" theory that has all been "torched" by the fact that all your "torch" opponents were coming off consecutive multiple WINS and not LOSSES. i dont think that it has ever happened where a wbc, ibf, wba or wbo champion in recent times(20 years) has ever defend his belt against an opponent coming off two consecutive losses let alone UD losses. please explain, since im such an "idiot" and "****." are you a moderator using that kind of language? exactly what kind of example are you setting here on ESB?
whats also classic about this is that all freddys "torch candidates" where the champion(the second chavez fight was a rematch), which cotto is not, and not the challenger, which cotto would be. ****ing torch theory. whos buying this garbage? cause i got a bridge in brooklyn id like to sell if you going to fall for this bull****.
