Before Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, even Leonard and Hearns there were a slew of great fighters who competed with the best at mutiple weights with the same or greater disparity than in their first weight class. People really newbies think what they have done is unpredecented even De La Hoya with 6 title at 6 weights but before the night of the fight weigh-ins dilute past fighters. With the title trinkets surfacing in the past it dilutes the accomplishments of past fighters in other eras who beat champions in non-title fights or were refused shots for titles at all

Sam Langforde- Started at lightweight beat several champions and hall of famers all the way to heavyweight

Jimmy McClarnin started as a around bantamweight beat 13 champions and hall of famers along the way and settled at welterweight and eventually became champion

Georges carpentier started at flyweight won the lightheavyweight title attempted to win the heavyweight title and won several regional titles in several weight classes

Jimmy Bivins started as a light middlewweight and became a serious contender at heavyweight aND light heavyweight number one contender beat several hall of famers

    name some other guys

Pretty much everyone who was part of the Black Murderer's Row of the 40's (the aformentioned Burley and Bivens, along with Lloyd Marshall, Cocoa Kid, Holman Williams, Burt Lytell, Elmer Ray, etc.) all fought in multiple weight classes and were capable of being champions in each division they fought.

Ezzard Charles couldn't get a shot at 160, so he moved up to 175 and became one of the best ever there.

I always see him somewhere within the top 15 in ATG lists

Owen Moran won a championship at bantam, but then moved up and crap kicked Abe Atell at feather before pole-axeing Battling Nelson at lightweight. Among the best fighters you'll never, ever hear about...but pound for pound, at the turn of the 20th century, he was among the best in the sport.

His KO of Nelson was up on YT. It's sped up and poor quality... but you can tell that Moran obviously had talent...and that right hand that finishes is a thing of beauty.
