Froch ready to drop his belt for rematch with Kessler

Apparently Eddie Hearn thought he had until Feb 2nd to make a deal before having to make a deal with the mandatory.

I heard from Jean Bedard on the radio last week that they agreed to wait for Froch Kessler and then seeing as Kessler apparently doesn't want to go to England for the fight Hearn asked if it was ok to fight Stevenson instead to keep the belt and Bedard seem cool with it. No mention of a price to pay, only that they're in good terms with Froch's camp.

Yvon Michel said that Hearn told him their priority was still Kessler. So i think they have to strike a deal before Jan 15th and it will depend on whether they can get Kessler to England, i'd be a bit surprised if Froch were to drop the belt to go back to Denmark.

 

On another site, they say the WBC gave Ward, who is recovering from his shoulder injury, the Emeritus status, which allows them to keep receiving sanctionning fees by a fake champion, I mean a regular champion, which would be the winner of the Bika-Sjekloca fight. More intriguing, the winner would have to face Lucian Bute next.

Of course, Interbox may want to have more than one plan for Bute. If Bute goes the Ward route, is he a duck for not facing Froch or a man for challenging the number one of the division? :think

Will Bute face Bika or Sjekloca and then Froch with a strap on his waist? Bika would then be a preparation fight for Froch at the same time than an occasion for a belt.

Sjekloca for the 'regular' WBC title? Not seen him fight but he's only got two names on his record I even rocognise, very padded record. Nice fight for Sakio.

Then a big rematch with a damaged Bute afterwards in his first defense.

 

Kessler is allowed to fight anywhere - Oakland.

Agree on both counts. As long as the judging is fair in England Kessler, always beats Froch.

He would knock out Stevenson though. I think. It would be a hard-hitting fight.

I could understand if you said Kessler beat Froch most times... or something..

But always...?

First fight was close where Froch was hurt to the body early and it took a lot of of him so he never got the energy he needed.

But even so he managed to hurt Kessler once.

I can easily see Froch winning a rematch (I can also see KEssler winning though).

Froch didnt just "catch" him. He had been beating Bute up consistently for about 2 rounds before the stoppage!

 

I'm ready to see Froch beat the crap out of Adonis.

 

Froch has always been conscious of his age and I think he's realistic that he'll fade before too long. He wants the Kessler rematch while the iron is hot and he's on a roll.

 

Like you, I can see both fighters win. I don't think Kessler will agree to fight Froch in England though. Too bad.

 

I think Froch will win on points but it really is a pick'em fight.

 

Yea why should froch fight adonis for **** money ? there's little hype in that fight and he already had his tune up / stay busy fight against mack.

To suggest froch is ducking stephenson which some in this thread are alluding to is laughable.

 

So, the purse bid ordered by the IBF is scheduled for tomorrow? Will Froch and Kessler agree to fight each other? Will Froch face Adonis Stevenson to keep his belt?
