Can you explain whats fantastic about his footwork and ring generalship?

In my eyes he is slow moving , cant fight on the backfoot and has no latteral movement.

fair question. footwork is footwork: he is AMAZINGLY fast for a man his size. He creates, and maintains, the exact distance he wants in all his fights. Primarily using his feet, and clinching when needed. Which transitions into the second part...

Every wlad fight for 8 years or so has gone EXACTLY the way he's wanted. The pace, the timing, the distance, the texture of every fight has been determined only by him. Joe Louis let lesser fighters like Godoy control the distance and the fight. Wlad does not have that. Say what you want about the quality of his opponents but Wlad controls every second of every fight he's in. That the definition of ring generalship

Wlad in many ways is the typical European hwt. That straight up, rigid style.....walking statue. I have been watching boxing and studying boxing history since 1970 and sorry I do not see what is great about Wlad. He certainly has fought more tomato cans than I have ever seen. He cant take a punch and the three times he was taken to task he crumbled physically and mentally. In a real tough fight odds are he is not coming out on top. Rocky, Louis, Ali, Dempsey would all give him a tough fight and in the end he would lose.

He looks quick because he is fighting unskilled, slow moving opponents. He is a ponderous, unimaginative straight up European heavyweight lacking wiskers and the guts of a great fighter.

Genuinely can't believe the debate is still going on. Wouldn't it save more time to just quote old posts saying the same stuff?

both parts of this post are inaccurate. again, if you don't like wlad and don't see his talents I don't know what to say.

he looks quick because he is quick. he is robotic agreed but saying he lacks "gut" (please define this) is ludricous and obviously biased

He is dictating his opponents range with his jab and straight right. His power is keeping them at bay, not his footwork. His movement is fine, nothing special.

Fighting off the backfoot is where great footwork comes into play. Sidesteping at angles to set up traps. using latteral movement to evade the attack and counter back. Wlad cant fight on the backfoot to save his life.

Neither could Frazier or Foreman or Marciano or Tyson. Ali couldn't bodypunch. Louis couldn't take a punch. Everyone works with what they have, and tries to make up for what they don't have.

And Wlad has great footwork. This is obvious by watching the Haye fight.

Guts..The ability to be KD, hurt and not look for the exits. Watch all three of his Ko losses and can you honestly tell me you dont see fear, you dont see that I want out of here look on his face?

Whats very disingenuous is if Marciano was KOed even once in the manner Wlad was koed everyone here would be the first to point at that loss as to why Wlad or any other fighter would beat Marciano. Because its Wlad you ignore or try your best to pass off these brutal Kos against fighters so very inferior to Marciano. Purity, Brewster and Sanders are nobodies in boxing history. None of them will be given a paragraph in any boxing history book 10 years from now. Yet all three brutally KOed Wlad. In all three bouts Wlad fell in sections in comical fashion but no its OK....we can pass all this away...it does not matter right? No..it DOES matter. At some point in the bout Marciano will hit Wlad full force on the chin and that chin is going to cave. Once hurt Wlad cant defend himself and its all over from there.

Either Klitschko would KO Marciano. Lewis would too. I love Rocky just as much as the next man, but let's be realistic. There is no way the 5'11'', 187 lb. Rocky Marciano could deal with the skilled size of Lennox Lewis or a Klitschko.

I swear you must have repeated yourself about fifty times in this thread. Are you by any chance a spambot?

Wlad is actually fluid for a big guy. All of those fighters you listed would lose to Wlad apart from Ali and i would still favor Wlad by a decent margin. Tyson, Foreman, Lewis i favor over Wlad.

Walking statue lol, you have no idea what you are watching.

utter bull****. watch the first peter fight. he got up 3 times and won. with heart

watch the sanders knockout. watch the brewster knockout. he KEEPS GETTING UP

and the idea that marciano is the one being held to an unfair standard is preposterous. those are 3 nobodies...but they are brought up CONSTANTLY to discredit wlad. plenty of fighters have lost to people that had no business beating them...you don't hear about it nearly as much as you hear about wlad's losses. but he KEEPS COMING BACK. that's ****ing heart and he's dominated nearly a decade because of it.
