What are some famous/well known examples of a fight where one is OBVIOUSLY outlanding the other, but the one who is losing gets a KO. Something that can be shown in a short highlight reel... the reason being that I got into an arguement with my friend over punch stats.... he refused to believe that its not all numbers, strategy, heart, ect.. matter more than punches thrown/landed. He said that if a fighter is skilled, he should always be winning on the stats. I need to shut him up. Please help!
Marciano over Jersey Joe Walcott. Walcott was ahead on the cards going into the 13th round and Rocky KO'd him with a vicious right against the ropes and Walcott crumbled in a heap. The ref could have used an hour glass to count him out.
Joe Louis against Billy Conn. Conn was a light heavy going against the great Louis and was ahead on 2 of the 3 judges cards and even on the third going into the 13th round. He decided to punch with Louis and got KO'd for his effort. After the fight he was asked why he decided to stand toe to toe with Louis and it is said he replied "What's the sense in being Irish if you can't be stupid!"
diaz - sta. cruz katsidis - casamayor both were down big on the scorecards and probably both winners didn't win a single round except for the rd they KOd their opponent.
