Sanders that beat Wlad v todays Wlad lets say if Wlad of today was to fight the Sanders he fought when he lost, do you think he will be able to survive Sanders offence, will Wlad lose?
Not likely, todays Wlad is a complete different fighter from 10 years ago. He would not run straight to his opponent if he get caught, and he would clinch a lot more.
Lots of Sanders lunging and Wlad stepping back. A strong but not very exciting UD. This is assuming this is a rematch (where Wlad would be more cautious) and not this fight happening instead of the first fight. If this was the first fight only with the newer Wlad, a TKO could be possible in Wlad's favor, but it would be riskier.
Today's Wlad still has no answer to the short/medium short range barrage. He is just more effective at not spending much time at this distance.
New Wlad's footwork would ensure he stayed at range. He's faster on his feet than most light heavyweights.
I would pick Volo to pick Sanders apart cautiously with his jab, and a few right hands here and there until the second half of the fight when Sanders becomes much less capable and score a late knockout after busting him out. Having said that, an upset wouldn't take a big stretch in imagination and perhaps that Sanders still matches up better with Volo than anyone in the top ten right now. The fact that he's still (still disadvantaged in size but 6'4+ is still in the range) and carries the speed, power and combination punching ability makes him dangerous for whoever, particularly early. Sanders would likely lose to the best Volo. He would likely lose to Lennox. He would likely lose to Bowe. He would likely lose to a myriad of guys of his time. But he would be dangerous to all of them.
The major difference in todays Wlad is he fights weaker oppisition. Wlad does't have an answer to couter punchers like Sanders who have fast heavy hands and can turn on the pressure in a heartbeat. Knock out loss for him before the 3rd.
Wlad would wait out the first 2-3 rounds by moving around the ring and peppering Sanders with his jab, then finish him between rds 9-12
Wlad is a completely different fighter now. You only have to look at his stance to see the difference. His feet are closer together giving greater mobility, he no longer hunches down, leaning forward with his chin exposed and he rarely stays in range for very long like he used to. But speed beats the jab and grab style. The jab and grab usually only works when when you can get off first and then smother your opponents counter. But then Sanders tended to be more effective by countering with his left himself so might struggle to land against a more cautious Wlad. Personally I think Wlad would be in trouble early. Sanders as always would start fast but this version of Wlad rides the storm out and stops Sanders in the later rounds. Even a cautious Wlad does enough to stop Sanders who was stopped in every loss he had. But of course one good punch from Sanders and it's game over, he always would pose a problem for Wlad.
The same Wlad who took 12 rounds to KO Eddie chambers? He's looked good beating bums or blown up heavyweights like chambers.
Who in the last few years has attacked Wlad with brute force , pressure in the mannor of trying to take his head off and gave him a hard fight for you to base this argument against?
