can Wlad Klitchko be a top ten ATG heavy

Lewis beating every fighter he ever faced has nothing do with Wlad not being a top 10.
I'll let Ali be nr1 for the moment to avoid further discussion and place Lewis as a top 3/2 HW.
So what is bad about being worse than the second or third greatest and what has avenging defeats to do with it?

Wlad has also shown ATG skill, ability, skill, he doesn't show much killer instinct but his power makes up for it.
Wlad proved by coming back from not 1, not 2 but 3 "shameful" losses that his mental toughness to continue is exceeded by nobody.
Name one man that could come back from 3 KO losses that are seen as shameful and dominate a division (He is even allowed to have dodged 1 or 2 fighters if you think that's fair because of Vitali).
You can't name that guy because everyone else quit after 2.

Wlad getting away with things isn't unique in the boxing world.
Did Tyson get penalized for elbows headbutts and hitting the back?
Did Bruno get penalized for extreme holding against Mccall?
Did Ali ever get penalized for pushing Frazier his head down and leaning on him, or holding necks?
Did Foreman get penalized for pushing Frazier after he blacked out a little after a hook? (You can clearly see Foreman starting pushing after he got hit with a nice left hook, he said himself he blacked out a little)
Did Lewis get penalized for holding and hitting Vitali?

Kind of agree with Mormeck situation, but he should have been warned first.

 

You're trying to argue that getting knocked out by 2 average fighters and 1 nobody is a good thing. I cant name the man because i dont know any elite fighter who got destroyed 3 times moving up the ranks. On a side note, create your own posts and dont be constantly living in my shadow.

 

I think his top ten status is secure. He can lose his next fight and all that does is stole him moving up higher.

He's miles off Lewis though. Miles above Dempsey. Round about the Holmes ranking on my list.

 

He could but it'd take a lot more domination in an era of far better heavyweights than he's faced in the past few years, so whilst it's possible, it's highly unlikely that will happen. He'd need the longevity of Hopkins, the opposition of Lewis and the dominance of Marciano to be ranked a top 10 heavyweight of all time...so yeah, it's not going to happen.

When Wlad retires, people will look at his record and think "who was the best guy he fought?" and that name will be Chris Byrd, a guy who probably ranks just outside the top 50 heavyweights of all time and when he was in his prime, deserved to lose against Oquendo and Golota. Not exactly a great 'best opponent'. When people ask themselves "who was the toughest guy he fought stylistically?", their answer will be Sanders, who knocked Wlad out in 2 rounds.

The opposition simply isn't there to build a legacy off. You have to go back years to find an opponent who showed real desire and determination to win, which says a lot about the quality of his opposition.

 

I never said losing is a good thing, what I said is that coming back from losses stronger than before is a good thing.

The American based and biased Ring magazine has had Wlad in their top-ten pound for pound ranks for years now and he steadily goes up their list as guys like Pacman get beaten up and lose their championships. Anybody seriously questioning Wlad's top ten heavyweight status after all these years of total domination of the most prestigious title in boxing; the heavweight division is talking out of his ass. His eastern European roots and his white skin pigmentation are the only thing holding him back from being heralded as the great all-time champ he obviously is. Kudos to Ring Magazine for not being the blind, bigoted fools of many on this forum. They finally saw the light and are acknowledging Wlad's storied career.

 

He is a top ten Heavy in my book, I have him at 7 right infront of Floyd Patterson

 

Nothing to do with being a hater or his style, he shouldn't be there purely because the competition is so bad. If all we can do is put resume vs resume then Wlad's is **** poor, I mean who cares how many defences you have if your resume is so bad? Is it because it's the heavyweight division?

I appreciate it's not the Klitschko's fault, it's not like they've ducked anyone. I kinda feel sorry for them because they've never had the opportunity to prove their greatest like Ali had Frazier, Liston and Foreman. Lewis had Holyfield and Vitali, it's just unfortunate on their part but that's the way it is.

Who did Liston ever beat besides Patterson?
And Patterson wasn't really a good heavyweight, as a lightheavy he would have been one of the greatest but not really at hw.

Funfact:Liston never beat a guy a who wasn't knocked out before or had a 75%+ win ratio after 12 fights.

 

I know this a little off the thread tittle but why was a wlad vs valuev fight never made after all valuev did have a belt and I could not of seem wlad getting beaten by him
