Who appeared in a Rocky movie??? If its Lewis you're reffering to I think you meant to say Ocean's 11 (BTW the original with the Rat Pack was way better).

Marquez is better head to head and, I believe, a better fighter. Pacqiuaos resume is better by a distance. That's about all there is to say on it.

Manny is more accomplished, so the word "greater" may apply, but Marquez got the best of what went on between them in the ring, so for Marquez, "better" is not inappropriate.

I also say I must resent the Forrest-Mosley Norton-Ali comparisons that often get thrown around. Marquez is not some forgotten championship-level fighter that achieved great heights with a single or double win and then fizzled out with nothing more to his name. His resume is not so far from Manny's, especially considering the condition in which he fought the best in his division, that you can make such parallels.

Yeah, he's more like Barney Ross or Sandy Saddler than Forrest or Norton. Tony Canzoneri and Jimmy McLarnin both had deeper, greater resumes, but Barney went 4-1 against them H2H and is in many people's eyes, the greater fighter because of it (in addition to his other career merits). Saddler beat Willie Pep three of four times.

I agree on the latter part of your post, and I often wonder how Jmm's resume would look today had he gotten the win in the first fight between the two. That 'win' really propelled pacs career to new heights, bigger fights etc. Would Jmm have gotten some of those opportunities if he'd won? Not to say that he could or would have moved up in weight chasing big fights as successfully as Pacqiuao did, but I think there's a good chance he'd have had a few bigger fights and names on his résumé.

Pac fought the better opposition. Marquez is still very much a boss and one of my favorite boxers.

Agreed. If only he'd broken out sooner! JMM blames Arum.

JMM was the most avoided fighter in the lower division until Pacquiao showed his balls in public.

IMO Pac-JMM 1 made Pacquiao and JMM famous.

The latter half of Marquez's career is dominated by his chasing of Pacquiao, while during the same period Pacquiao was busy chasing other big name fighters. Marquez is probably the better fighter one-on-one but it would be foolish to say that his career is superior to Pacquiao's.

Never been much of a fan of Pacquiao, so no visuals of him face down will do anything crushing to my ass, nor will any amount of keyboard-warrior tough talk.

I'm just stating my most neutral, objective opnion. Antonio Tarver also knocked the man the f out. It didn't make him the man and nobody rates above Jones on any ATG-list.

Now Marquez is definitely higher on such a list than the likes of Tarver also. But in terms of the overall depth of his accomplishments and his resume he ranks a little lower than Pacquiao.

That's my honest opinion. Feel free to disagree if your pride won't allow you the notion that maybe you don't know it all better than nearly 80% of the ppl who voted on this poll.

Pac was been thru a lot of wars with top and big fighters theres no even tune up fight, those wars took him a lot. Some even said that he was on a decline. While marquez was on his prime again even at the age of 39 because of Heredia.
In a war if the hero was get caught by the enemy and was assassinated in a public place. Even how brutal he died and killed him he will still be remembered as a hero. The same way with pac not a hero but a warrior who give his best fight will be remembered as one who reign supreme.
