Canelo is just a prospect, no way he is ready for Mayweather.

He's levels below Floyd but he does have a strap which means he is claiming to be champion of the world. With that kinda status he's gotta take the step up when it's offered.

Yup he was given easy fights, but recently wasnt really his fault Kirkland and Williams fights didn't happen. Circumstances happen. Not too long ago Angulo would thrash him, NOW I'd favor Canelo. He is getting better, and he looked superb against Mosley who tho shot can give any of these young guns a rude awakening. Yes I agree he's not peak yet, but could be if too much time passes Floyd might retire and fight never happens. Most dont, expect Canelo to win, but he will be competitive at the least. He's more refined than,Ortiz and more composed. His time practicing with GGG has greatly improved Canelos game.

Kirkland is not very skilled, just a tough guy, that fight would show me nothing about Canelo. Id like to see Canelo in with Trout or Cotto...

I agree he looked good vs Mosley, I mean he looks good every fight just vs sub par competition so its hard to properly assess.

I wouldn't say Mosley is sub par comp even now. And Kirkland, tho obviously not as skilled as Cotto, with Cotto on the decline, I don't think would be an easy fight for Cotto or even Trout. Kirkland is a beast and could easily ko or stop anyone in the 154 division. If he stopped an iron chinned Angulo, he can stop anyone if he catches them. Also, its not just Kirkland's power, but he has really good stamina and a nonstop punching come forward fighter. I don't like the current version of Cotto's chances with him. To me Cotto and Mosley seem to still compete at world class level, but can't win against an elite. Canelo beating Kirkland at least could show how Canelo can handle a dangerous powerpuncher. His defense and chin would be tested and possibly his heart if it came down to it.

Kirkland is reckless and wild, but if he connects on Cabnelo, it's good night.

Mosley was done when he fought Canelo, Mosley last hurrah was vs Mayweather when it was supposed to be Mays 1st loss and all that crap, landed 1 good shot then got dominated.

Kirkland is a beast, yes, i agree..... but this dude got layed out by Ishida in like 90 seconds......Angulo has only has 24 fights, we cant say he is iron chinned because he hasnt fought any elite fighters in his 24 fight career.

Mosley is not competing at world class levels...Did you see him vs Mora, Pac & Canelo? he looked terrible...

This might be a good thing. I don't think Floyd v Guerrero sells big on its own. If Canelo isn't on the undercard, Floyd will have to fight someone more entertaining/deserving. If Canelo does get his demands, then we''ll see Mayweather v Canelo which is one of the biggest money fights that can be made right now.

Floyd has been doing a million PPV buys before people knew who Canelo was, he doesnt need a guy who hasnt even headlined his own PPV to be on his PPV undercard. Give me a break:lol:

He's more than a prospect but IMO not ready for Floyd. Let him face some reason adversity at the top level.

Couldn´t agree with you more. He is good for a 22 yo, but he should never have been allowed to become a World Champion until he has earned it, and so far, he just hasn´t. He became a Champ thanks to Televisa and Sulaiman. He´s a nice kid...it really isn´this fault, but the fact is he "won" a vacant title against a sub par opponent, and all his defenses have been BS. Of course, those than don´t know anything buy it all up. The best "name" he has faced was Mosley, but a version of Mosley that was light years away from what we saw in the past. I mean...Mosley was practically apologizing every time he even touched Canelo. Totally rigged...
Canelo has not faced a top 10 opponent in his division (obviously not referring to WBC´s bogus rankings) yet, and until he does, he is just a prospect. He has a lot of potential, and he will be a legit champion one day, but that day has not arrived yet...

canelo is the money fight. there is a reason floyd fights on 5 de mayo and not on mlk day. he caters to an audience and that audience would pay to watch their boy test himself against the best.
