What examples come to mind when you think of perfect textbook boxing skills? Footwork, stick and move, hit, don't get hit etc. I'm not even sure if this thread makes sense, but i'm hoping someone will understand me, as a beginner trying to learn, I'm looking for videos of fights/fighters. :good
Robinson in the mw championship winning effort against lamotta. As close to perfect as I've ever seen on film.
Sumbu Kalambay vs Mike McCallum 1 A great technical fighter being taken to school, it doesnt get much better than that.
Mayweather vs. Corrales Hopkins vs. Pavlik and honestly, although people give him so much **** for it, Mayweather vs. Baldomir was perfect.
The Mayweather Corrales fight was the reason I started this thread actually, I watched it earlier. Floyd was brilliant.
To me, it all starts with footwork. There are so many different types of footwork. My favorite is Hagler. He stays perfectly balanced on the balls of his feet. He can move in any direction easily and slip punches. He can move into position to throw any shot he wants and only comes completely set once he throws, not before like too many modern fighters. To me, his footwork is perfect. Watch his fights against Antuofermo to Mugabi.
If you want to see a fight where one fighter beats other with textbook boxing skills i would recommend Barrera vs Hamed!
Probably the best example of perfect boxing right here.. [YT]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02Blol1q3Go[/YT] Naz was literally taught a boxing lesson in this fight. Took back to basics. Probably the most epic schooling ever. Just a master class by Barrera in terms using the boxing basics.
