Ricky Burns facebook status saying "big fight will hopefully be announced soon"

Maybe Ricky typed " Big " instead of " A "

 

John Murray would be pretty pointless, we know his level, it's certainly not world.

It would be a decent enough fight to watch entertainment wise but tell us nothing more about Ricky Burns.

Khan is a no-no, why would he step up to LWW to take a risk fighting Khan with no belt on the line? If he loses his WBO belt is then also gone.

Vazquez again makes no sense, fight someone that tough for less money than Broner offered? Why would he do that?

It wouldn't surprise me to see it being Molina, he has just had a bit of exposure from the Khan loss, or Beltran as someone mentioned. I'd like to see him against DeMarco or Linares personally.

 

There's a Burns piece in Boxing News. Says he didn't take the Broner fight as there wasn't enough notice. After the December fight fell through he took a few weeks off then the off for the Broner fight came but he wants a 12 week training camp for a fight like that.

Admits he'd never heard of that Ocampo fella but "I don't get to pick who I fight".

Now that is disappointing. A promoter works FOR the fighter, not the other way round. Burns has got every right to tell Frank and Alex Morrison that he doesn't want to face these no-names they keep offering him.

 

Blimey, with that attitude no wonder he is getting walked on by his management, Frank must love him.

 

Clev seems to be the same. I guess that's why guys like Hatton and Khan ended up leaving Frank - they wanted the bigger fights but Frank probably wasn't too keen on that.

 

Cleverly actually moaned about the fans not wanting to see easy defences any more, at least with Burns you do get the feeling he wants the big fights, Cleverly I get the impression he is quite happy fighting cannon fodder, and when he mentions Hopkins every 3 weeks its like he's reading from a bit of paper.

I think Ricky is too much of a nice guy for his own good.

 

Yeah and Bellew/DeGale, weird though as you would think the bigger fights the more money generated.

 

It's insane to say "I don't get to pick who I fight" as if he simply has no say in the matter.

At some point he MUST have to talk to FW and AM about potential suitors so it's a bit of a cop out to just say it's nothing to do with him. And if he doesn't get to pick, why not?

Why doesn't he say "I want one of these names" and give them options?

I hope it's a big name, so burns can shoot one back at the haters!

 

I hope so too, but my issue is this, Is Ricky ready for a big name if he hasnt fought for 6 months?

It's stupid and cant be that difficult he had at least a stay busy fight, but what do I know.
