That would be a travesty but sadly it's looking more and more likely (not you Billy)

I get that Billy, hence I pointed out that boxing is as much mental as physical.

My question is, what is wrong with Ricky's mind set at the moment that is prohibiting him from fighting Broner, but meaning that he is perfectly fine to fight whoever this other "big" name is?

He's coming off a great KO win, got married last year, and is in his physical prime, if he's mentally not there then what is the reason for that? I am not trying to do him down I am just genuinely wondering what the problem is, perhaps if some of the fans (and I was at the Katsidis fight cheering your man on) were given a bit more idea then we would be more understanding of his predicament?

I believe that quote came after Rickys december fight was called off to be fair, as in Ricky was mentally ****ed after having a big training camp with no fight at the end of it, it's no secret that Ricky was very very pissed off around that time, and that's sure not like him

It would be such a shame to see Ricky not take on the best at his level, he has fought hard to get where he is and deserves great fights.

His camp dont seem to have the necessary confidence in him though, hopefully Bill will enlighten us as to whats going on and as BlackBrenny said its due to his last camp resulting in no fight.

Fair enough, it just seems to me that it's always going to be something, heads not right, wrong time, not enough money, not the right location etc.

After stepping in at short notice for the Arthur fight and being under prepared I am sure that Ricky wants everything to be spot on for his biggest fight to date and that's totally understandable. What isn't understandable is his management undermining him and being so obviously reluctant to let him prove he is a world class talent, I get the impression (correct me if I am wrong Billy) that even Billy is getting pissed off with the match making and feels that he's being held back to some extent.

Il tell you what's boring Billy boy! It's Ricky Burns content to fight at British or commonwealth level turning down marquee fights in America!

You've ducked Broner, that's what you have done. It doesn't matter what excuse you come out with everybody knows you have blatently ducked the biggest fight of the mans career, a unification fight in Las Vegas or Atlantic City vs a marquee name and number 1 in the division...

To instead fight a teak tough Ghanaian at the York hall!

Yeh i heard that too, its the 'mentally ready' quote that doesnt sit right. Is the latter just an excuse?

Ricky isn't being held back by anyone,Ricky made the choice not to fight Broner and I'm 100% in agreement with him,why should Ricky jump coz some big mouth shouts him out,Broner will get it in time

Cus they're the two biggest names in the division Billy and it would be Burns defining fight and one I think he could win, a big fight in America against the over-hyped goldenboy is a dream come true for any fighter surely

Yes but billy, that is all well and good, providing the people you fight in the meantime are worthy and creditable. If an opponent isn't genuine world class the fans have every right to be pissed.

It's not about "jumping" or being at a big mouths beck and call, it's about having confidence in your ability to beat the big mouth, for a career high pay day, to then become unified champion of your division, whilst getting huge exposure on HBO in the process.

If Ricky doesn't fight until March and Broner is on the Mayweather under card in May then it won't happen then either so it'll likely next Autumn by which time Broner will probably be at LWW or the fight will have lost it's interest and Ricky will have missed his chance. That would be a terrible shame to me and a decision I think you will all look back on with regret, but that's merely my humble opinion.

If 2013 sees another year of british level, in house opponents like Walsh and Murray then fans will have every right to be disappointed and quite frankly I won't be watching, the theme so far has been fight one decent opponent a year then fill the gaps with two duff defences, it's just not right and it's a waste of Burns talent.
