Don't think Mayweather should be there. Didn't do much at the weight. Neither did De La Hoya.

In all honesty Mamby should make the top ten IMO. Especially considering he was robbed against Muangsurin and after Benitez moved up was arguably the no.1 Light Welter in the World, stopped Kim, DeJesus, and had some solid title defences as well.

Add his skillset and intangibles and you have a solid, formidable 10 stone fighter.

You'd put him above Cervantes when Benitez moved up?

Yeah. What did Cervantes do to justify himself as the no.1? Gimme title and not very good opposition. Sure he'd beaten Mamby but it's about current form.

SHITE: I didn't word that right. I meant Saensak was no.1 and Mamby had 'beaten' him and then went on to do more stellar work.

Cervantes beat Mamby of course (not championship distance) and had a longer, better reign so of course I'm having him higher up the list than Saoul. But I see no reason to have Ricky Hatton above Mamby other than 'lineal champion'.

    Interesting viewpoint.

The gimme title was because Benitez was contracted to rematch Cervantes and didn't do. Plus he had the legendary reign prior and the victory under his belt already.

I'm not saying I disagree btw, I'm more saying it's something I never really considered.

Hatton has the tszyu victory and also beat fellow champs like maussa, urango and malignaggi. Not the strongest resume but then again it ain't the strongest division.

Not 'fellow champs', 'contenders'. And Mamby beat a few of them as well.

Luf, Saensak Vs Maussa would be the ugliest and most awkward shootout ever. Who you got?

Meh not getting into semantics but you know what I mean and I do agree.

Hatton also had decent longevity as champ.

Maybe I don't know enough about mamby though I'll look into him when I'm back home.

I like Hatton at light welter. Decent resume, not the best, but a lot better than others in recent years. As you mentioned the fight with Tszyu is probably what gave him a ranking on my list, even though prime for prime Tszyu would probably spank him.

I've not seen much of him, just glanced at his record. Mamby did have a fairly decent reign there but it wasn't great. Who would you say was his best win during his reign as champ?
