Ricky's statement today goes along exactly with what myself and other were saying before Xmas.
He had a full camp, then a short notice cancellation, missing out on a purse he was probably budgeting for and people wonder why his head isn't 100%?
And as for Broner in Feb,I always said that was a ridiculous notion for the exact reasons that Ricky pointed out today.Ricky is a legitimate champion and has no need to accept a career defining fight that could break him just as much as it could make him at that short notice.
The biggest fight of your life with half a camp? Ricky was a belt holder at the weight long before Broner. And I fully accept that the fans deserve a top quality opponent, and I'll take my medicine if it's another Walsh-type opponent, but the February date was always completely nonsensical, other than to the armchair ATGs who would fight Marquez,Pacquaio and Mayweather in the space of nine weeks because they're hard as **** and would do it "for the fans"
I'm not defending Walsh as an opponent, but it was a stay busy fight to give Ricky a Xmas earner which he richly deserved IMO.Again,if he had followed up Walsh with say,John Murray or Scott "Capone"Harrison, then that's different.
    But thankfully we'll never know.

He fought Kevin Mitchell who is domestic level. He fought Moses who is a decent fighter and a good win. He fought Katsidis who was shot to bits and coming in off of two fearful beatings. He fought Nicky ****ing Cook who had a broken back and was probably one of the worst 'world' title defences i've seen in years. Before that he fought Joseph Laryea and Andreas Evenson in 'world' title fights! If you can't see that his record is a joke then i fear for you. That is one of the worst runs from a 'world' champion imaginable.

What's England got to do with it? He is supposed to be 'world' champion, no one should be beating him, however he seems reluctant to prove this.

When you look at Ricky's career it's misguided, One step forward two steps back. The great night on normal sky on a saturday night primetime against Martinez should of been built upon but yet within a year he couldn't sell out a arena in Scotland due to level of opposition.

He needs the big fight asap, It's not good enough anymore to be testing the waters. Ricky's nearing 10 fights at world title level, How mentally prepared do you need to be to face someone. I just don't agree with this, I don't get impression the Broner fight is wanted.

Burns is a world class fighter fighting two levels below what he should be. I give him till may and if no big fight i don't watch him until he does.

The biggest surprise to me is that people are surprised that Frank (who let's face it, is not shitting either money or name fighters) is keeping one of his Champions at home, generating income by fighting poor opposition.

That's been his modus operandi since time began. He's not going to risk Burns losing that 'World Champ' tag for as long as he can help it.

With that said, I 100% sincerely hope to be proven wrong.
