He made boxing look easier than anyone I've ever seen. In contrast to another freak, Roy Jones, who just seemed like he was moving at hyper-speed, Whitaker seemed like he was just strolling around at normal, human speed but in a world where everyone else was in slow-motion. He just saw everything.

that depends what you are looking at.

His defense was top3 ATG if not #1, other than that he was average in therms
of greatness, probably he would barely make HOF if you subtract the defense
    from his assets.

How does someone with such shitty offense manage to land well over 400 punches on multiple occasions in title fights? Truth be told, he had one of the greatest jabs ever (certainly the best in LW history unless you can prove to me Leonard's was superior... Inb4 "Leonard wasnt a lightweight"), the best inside skills of any southpaw, an all-time great body attack and phenomenal work rate in his prime.

I like floyd. I really do.. But Chavez, Prime Oscar, Azumah Nelson were just better opponents then Floyd has ever faced... much better

Arguably the best fighter of the last 25 years. A defensive wizard in the boxing ring.

Great defensively but Floyd's defense is better imo.

Pernell was a very good fighter i enjoyed watching but i find he gets overated on here. When ranking him its always important to remember that Chavez was shot to **** and way above his best weight category and still managed to draw with him.

Pernell belongs somewhere between 70-80 in any respectable ATG list.

Master defensive fighter. Long in the tooth. Tricky guy. Somewhat dirty and was a clown. Very difficult style of boxer.

You could argue it pretty easily too, and would have plenty of evidence to support the case.

He was good enough to go into the hometown fighters backyard, not bat an eye and proceed to beat said fighters with almost complete ease. Now we have guys that refuse to fight in other fighters backyards.

True, though he was robbed for it in Ramirez' adopted home country, for going to fight Chavez in Texas. Also went and fought McGirt @ MSG in New York. Trinidad as well.

Greatest boxer of the past 25 years.

He would school everyone from 135lbs-154lbs today...Including Floyd and Manny.
