Chavez Jr STOPS Triple G

Discussion in 'World Boxing Forum' started by Low Blow Combos, Jan 11, 2013.

  1. I would love to see this fight happen. Both come forward fighters = explosive fight. Chavez has an amazing chin and from what we've seen, when he lets those hands go he inflicts some serious damage. He gained confidence from the Martinez fight and I expect him to come out swinging in the rematch and on future fights. I am positive he will be able to handle Triple Gs power, the question is.. will Triple G

    Agree, disagree... discuss?

GGG seems to have a good beard, too. I think he is just the better technical fighter with more all around skills who would box to a UD in this hypothetical matchup. How could Chavez Jr. gain confidence from the Martinez fight?

He was battered and dominated for 11 1/2 rounds...

    No.

GGG is more like Chavez Sr than Jr is.

GGG by stoppage somewhere around the 10th.

Of course Chavez Jr is going to have a good chin, he comes into the ring as a cruiserweight.

I would love to see it. Too bad it will never happen.

  7. He hasn't felt Chavez jr type power. I mean, I'm watching this fight against GoWHOkin and that is no opposition.

Chavez noticed that when he let those hands go he seriously damaged Martinez. Psychologically he was beat before he stepped into the ring, he was a shell through the entire fight thanks to Sergios threats about killing him lol. He was afraid he could be PWill part 2. :yep

I expect a way different Chavez in a rematch, he has expressed the same thing as well. He'll come out with confidence that Martinez can't HURT HIM. Martinez didn't shook him ONCE.

He's probably more confident in his chin now. Martinez hit him with everything he had and still couldn't drop, wobble, or stagger Jr. He also nearly stopped Martinez when he finally let loose in the last round, after going through the previous 9 rounds or so just going through the motions, too dispirited to even try and win. I think Jr. didn't think he had a chance going into the fight. He knows now that Martinez can't finish him, but the reverse isn't true.

Throw in Martinez's injuries and age, and there's plenty of reason to believe Jr. could win the rematch. I think he will stop a vulnerable Martinez in the rematch.

That said, GGG would beat him by UD or TKO. Too skilled and hits too hard.

Would be a wild bout. Man! :bbb

  10. Well said.

And I agree with everyone who thinks it'd be one hell of a fight!! I'd love to see this year ASAP before Chavez leaves the division. Maybe a Martinez rematch and then Triple gay but that would be too brutal of a schedule I guess..

I want to see Chavez Jr. staggered or dropped. The kid has taken some huge shots and never has buckled. He might have the best chin in boxing and that is a statement at 160. I think GGG might be the one to do that.

Williams thought the same thing, and their fight was closer. Not to mention PDub had Martinez stunned a few times as well.

Martinez will know exactly what Junior brings to the table now. He is cerebral and will more than likely pick him apart easier than the first fight.

It would be a national day of mourning in Mexico if this fight was to come off.

    Not really.

Many many Mexicans in Mexico HATE Jr.

Personally, i would be rooting for GGG myself.

    Dude is a beast.

Chavez should've alleviated a lot of criticism when he got in the ring with Martinez. I haven't thrown flak his way since then. How much his attitude, skill set and work ethic leaves to be desired is another question though, I guess.
