Suppose Canelo fights Trout. He has a chance of losing that fight, so Mayweather loses money because there is no interest in that fight.

If Canelo beats Trout, that's a learning experience. He just fought a guy that is slick and can move, and he got better on account of it while Floyd got older and likely had a tough, but clear win over Guerrero.
