Definitely, Greg Page and Michael Dokes, especially Dokes, if he didn't have the coke up his nose...........
I think he was an unknowing beneficiary of those fights- a useful idiot. They were won in the back rooms.
Got any proof for that claim? I watched both fights and saw Ali prove his superiority over a borderline great heavyweight.
I just think once people get past the idea that Liston wasn't an unstoppable beast, a first round ko loss isn't that much of a leap especially given it was to the goat.
Haha I meant in terms or nickname not status. I'm just saying though I think the rematch is more frowned upon because people see liston as a badass h2h monster and that if you don't see him like that it ain't too big a deal him getting dropped and stopped.
I think if it had been a really good shot everybody would of been fine about but I am not sure its legit
Ref was shocking that night. It's the only stain on an otherwise great result. Maybe if jersey would have started counting straight away things would have oanned out differently. Ridiculous in such a high profile fight.
yeah I felt sorry for jersey joe and still do concerning that , but that is another odd thing about that fight a man with all the boxing knowledge of jersey joe suddenly looks like he does not know what he is doing. do you think for arguments sake he knew the fix was in but liston went down before the agreed point of the fight and he was not sure of what to do
No, I think like everyone else he bought liston's excuse about poor training and a shoulder injury. I think like everyone else he was expecting Liston to wipe the grin off Ali's face. I think when Liston went down he was shocked and panicked. Nothing sinister, just inexperience within that capacity.
