More good points. That, and the fuzzy-by-comparison 1970s-early 80s film that makes it look like Duran is getting hit with twice as many punches at first glance than he really was, despite how his face looked after fights I already get pissed off when people say Patrick Willis is much better than a peak: This content is protected Even though I've never bought into the adage of older or newer is better no matter what. I think guys like Jones and Pea are better than just about anybody that ever came before them, and than anybody that's come since. It just is what it is. Floyd's still in my top 40 all-time without much problem and one of the three best 'defensive' fighters since Pep.
Mayweather's style of skills lends itself much better to avoiding cocaine addiction, so I have to give him the edge.
Don't be serious MW. Floyd's offensive arsenal is much more potent than Whitaker FFS Whitaker was feather fisted (Srs) Floyd's right hand is like a jab ffs.
:-( pea is one of the most offensively gifted boxers in history. How many of his fights have you watched?
I never said he wasn't. And many of Pea's fights. Pea was just FEATHER FISTED. Pea was great offensively but cannot compare to Floyd's 130 days. That guy was just a sight to see. Floyd @ 130 was just way more potent offensively than Whitaker. And you can take THAT to the bank. Heavy punching power, throws crisp combinations, great jabs, right cross, those right hands man.
Feather fisted? Whilst he was still a top p4p boxer he was realistically only once behind on the cards and he went on to ktfo of hurtado. There's a difference between having a great ko ratio and having a great offence. At 130 I've seen noone better than Floyd, I'm sure many agree but you put him in with pea at LW and he's pretty much snookered.
punching power is important in a fighter's offensive arsenal. FACT. Just because he stopped Hurtado, Rodriguez doesn't mean he's not feather fisted. He's had many fights against china chinned fighters like Rivera, Jacobs etc etc and could not put them away. His offense was good but prime for prime. Mayweather takes it. So much more potent offensively. SO much more deadly. Mayweather @ 130/135/140 skills in offense were something else.
I think it's more accurate to say didn't put them away as opposed to saying couldn't. What do you think is peas best performance on film? Give his top 3 if you can.
1. Chavez 2. Ramirez 2 3. Nelson Some good ones were against Rog, Hurtado even though he was faded as hell and somewhat shot, MG2 although I didn't really like this one, Pineda, Layne, Haugen.
