If Garcia goes to war with Salido he will get stopped

Juanma another young gun got spanked twice by standing in and trading with a better brawler who could give and take better than Juanma

Salido has the artillary and the grit to go to war with anybody and it would be in Garcias best interest to fight smart

Right. He either has to neutralize Salido's workrate, or keep up with it. Both seem like daunting tasks.

Yes, but Gamboa is much quicker on his feet than Garcia, has a much more varied offense, has quicker hands, and is probably the better counter-puncher.

Word thanks. Yeah if you get around to watching those two it would help.

Problem is I underestimated Trout's ability to throw leads without landing his right jab first. His left straights to the body and left uppercuts were unexpected, worked real well and Cotto didn't look mobile enough to deal with it and make up for his lack of height & reach.

Very intriguing fight Garcia will try to stay on the outside utilize his jab & keep salido off him, just try to out box him.Salido on the other hand will pursue mikey try to fight him inside & make it a dog fight. All my boi siri needs is one punch to the kisser & change the fight completely hopefully he does.I can see mikey winning a close decision just barely surviving or Salido laying him flat.My moneys on salido have it 50-50 but the hungrier lion will come out atop.

Good analysis, but I have a hunch that we haven't seen the best of Garcia. He strikes me as a guy who fights up or down to the level of his competition. But if I'm wrong then Salido walks over him. He definitely can't fight like he did against Conception and come out victorious.

Thanks. That's the question; we've seen him fight down to the level of mediocre opposition and come out on top, we have yet to see whether he can fight up to the level of a battle-tested veteran at the elite level.

Good summary Bogo, I agreed with much of it.

I think Garcia's best move is going to be countering Salido at angles, the biggest weakness I saw in Salido's armor in both the second JuanMa fight and the Haya fioght was getting too aggressive and then being caught coming in, and both JuanMa and Haya were able to use that aggressiveness against him. From what I've seen of Garcia, (admittedly not a ton) he's gpot the skills to do that.

The thing that worried me most for Garcia when I watched the Barros fight was that I kept thinking that he'd have to be more active than that when he fought Salido, otherwise Salido would grind him down.

If Garcia is unable to keep Salido away from the inside, or if he isn't willing/able to box smart and break Salido's pressure with inside tactics like clinching, wrestling, etc. (the way Cotto broke Margarito's momentum in close during the rematch) then Salido will outwork him and wear him down.

    One more week :good
Very excited for this one. It brings so much potential for a great, memorable fight. Closing in to Salido vs Lopez which pulls ahead maybe only for the PR/Mexico hype the fight provided.
My main concern for Garcia is that we haven't seen his reaction when someone as dangerous as Siri doesn't quit from jumping inside despite the counters. In fact, Siri, while moving forward, has great counters as well that most fighters would not see due to the angles he creates. So Garcia could react with fear after realizing his counters are being countered lol. His inside work is yet to be seen fully developed and I feel that will create huge gaps for Siri to take advantage of sooner or later.. most likely after the middle rounds after Siri works the body.

The only concern I have with Siri is his conditioning and hunger level. I hope he's not satisfied with his last two performances and shows decline. He needs to bring lots of that Mexican pride with him because Mikey is very smart for his age.

Seems like the consensus in this thread is with salido. Damn I hope u guys are right... personally I don't see it. I think knockdowns will play a key role in this fight in garcia winning a decision if he doesn't stop salido. Just imo tho.

I think Salido will need to stop Mikey to win...I think Mikey is too sound fundamentally and Robert will have too good of a plan for Salido to outboxes him (not really his style anyway).

I just watched Salido-Haya there Bogo, and although I had to watch with no volume I felt there was a case for Haya getting the first round as it took Siri until the last minute to really find his way in.(his power was always more evident though)
I thought there were times when Haya looked like going, but it's Salido's disregard for him that proves costly. It's as if he doesn't care that he has to take one to land two.And he can't be getting caught off balance like that at tonight's level.
I feel Salido's improved attitude will be the difference between then and now.
He knows he has to respect an opponent like Garcia and as I said,he knows every second counts nowadays(I hope:oops:)

Of course you called it well mate.Wasn't a bad watch either
I'll try to catch the Garcia fight if I've got time later.:good
