I am mainly referring to the 90's and beyond. Who are fighters, especially top fighters, who have been willing to take on all comers? The guys who fight the best, even when it's high risk/low reward. Mine: Holyfield - One of the best resumes of the modern day James Toney - Willing to take on anyone, in all divisions he has been in Pacman - With the exception of Mayweather, has pretty much had all the big fights. I'm not starting an argument over who is to blame, just stating. Him taking the fight with Bradley showed how he is willing to take high risk/low reward fights. Cotto - gained a ton of respect for him taking on Margarito and Trout who were both high risk/low reward fights) Also, he is not a top fighter, but Emanuel Augustus has sure fought alot of top guys. He will take on all comers, and is much better than his record would lead you to believe. It just takes on a different meaning when an elite fighter is seriously risking his rep to fight the toughest guys, despite huge risks, so that's why I didn't include him in the main section.
Arum said it was stupid for Cotto to take Trout because it was high risk low reward, that's the guy who tells Pacquiao who to fight, I would argue he was scared to fight Mosley earlier, Cotto at his real weight and why didn't he fight Zab? Also he wouldn't have fought Margarito if he hadn't lost and got caught cheating. If he really wanted Mayweather take 40 mil and the test just ridiculous to put him on list.
Yeah Toney and Holyfield for sure! I dont know if Toney was ever afraid or lacking confidence. This guy could be 400 pounds and 97 years old and he'll be like "I knock holes thought people."
Cotto took the first fight against Margarito prior to the scandal. He took Margarito at his peak, when Margo was about as high risk, low reward as it comes. He was about the only person who would take that fight at that time.
Pacman lol. YDKSAB. He's dodging Mayweather like the plague boy. Does Pacman even fight on fair terms? This guys been draining cloes to everyone North of 135.
I truly think Toney isn't afraid of anyone at all. Hell, he isn't even a real heavyweight, he is a super middleweight, with the rest of the weight being fat, and will still fight any heavyweight. If they offered him a match against Wladimir Klitschko tomorrow, he'd sign immediately.
I'm the biggest Mayweather fan out there, but I'm not ignorant. BOTH of them are guilty, PERIOD. Manny with the testing, Mayweather with money disagreements, and many other things they both have done to hamper negotiations. Lets not derail this thread into another ******ed Manny vs Mayweather thread, please. We have enough of those already... Bottom line is with this exception, Pacquaio has fought pretty much everyone out there. He deserves a mention here, especially for taking high risk, low reward fights. I do think both of them want the fight to happen, so I don't count this as a duck on either, period.
Yup they are both guilty so why are you putting Pacman as one of the choices? YOu said Modern day fighters who "NEVER" ducked anyone, never does not = everyone besides X. Anyways, Pacman should be erased from the opening paragraph.
What if Zab had ducked? He fought Mayweather, Cotto, tszyu and a hyped Khan. I wonder would he be hyped he would only have 3 losses.
