1: I thought you were neutral on this topic? I remember making a thread about this and it seemed to me like you were willing to give Jones the benefit of the doubt, what changed? 2: Jones looked fine during the Tarver II fight
Dude he dropped from HW and fought at LHW in his very next fight...History would prove that to be very difficult.. How many cases can you think of a fighter doing that to compare it to? Losing pure muscle in a short amount of time can damage someone. The theory that the sudden decline was because he quit taking roids is laughable, and is usually the talk of Roy Jones haters. The man was in his mid thirties, already starting to decline slowly, and dropped muscle weight in a short time, it isn't rocket science. I can only name one that dropped from HW and beat the #1 LHW in the world in their very next fight. Well two, Roy Jones and Joey Maxim. I am sure if there are more that I can't name, they are great fighters, because it takes a great fighter to do that.

he didnt drop a whole lot of weight in reality sometimes he hit the ring in the mid 180s as a light heavy and he was 193 as a heavy seems to me he just didnt have to cut for a weigh in Anyway the mans legs were completley gone from one fight to the next and never returned can you tell me anotehr top guy that lost that much that quick ? I just do nto think the decline was steady-as others do
It is possible that it can cause an over 6:1 ratio, but it is pretty much accepted fact within the scientific and medical community that this isn`t likely with standard dosing. Actual medical studies have been conducted with test and placebo groups, and with actual bloodwork to confirm the results. Conventional dosing as directed by the product would not likely ever cause and over 6 to 1 ratio. The conversion rate of andro to actual test in the body just isn`t significant enough. Conversion to estrogen derivatives is an absolute with that product. Bad for a male. To acheive a positive test the athlete would likely have to be taking huge amounts of andro....to the point where any ped benefits would be far outweighed by the negative side effects carried by estrogen related hormones....hence why the andro claim has been likely nothing more than a smokescreen for those who test positive to cover what they were really taking. The info you link to has reference literature which contradicts the profile given in the original article itself....something common with andro. There are many studies you can find through research which say either or, but the more credible one`s suggest it is not what it was claimed to be. It`s ability to actually do as advertised has been debated since the late 90`s. Pretty much commonly accepted in the medical community (and the ped user community) that its potential side effects make it dangerous for males, while it`s ped properties are extremely weak or non existant. This is the case with a lot of pro hormone literature....some studies are simply misguided or incomplete, and many contradict eachother. A basic understanding of endocrinology and pharmacology helps you shift through the BS. Andro is bunk and was a scapegoat for positive tests, while never being a true performance enhancer. Logic dictates it was banned and scheduled to protect people from using something that could alter their hormonal profiles and cause bad side effects, not so much for any performance enhancing qualities. Regardless it was right to ban it, but blaming it for positive tests is stretching quite a bit.
Roy Jones used one of the best physical trainers alive, to turn his body into a legit small HW.. Boxrec says 193, but he actually weighed more around 200..and he was solid muscle... Roy was bigger against Ruiz than when he was at LHW, it was visible by the eye, and not the 10 lbs of water weight or fat a fighter carries around between fights, but solid muscle. The Roy Jones vs. Ruiz was not just some LHW that decided not to cut weight for that fight, he was very strategically trained to pack on weight, but still retain his speed and have even more power. Now again, can you name another top fighter to pull of something like that to compare it to? For one, it isn't smart, i am shocked Roy decided to do that.. It may not have had such a great effect if he was a bit younger, but he was in his 30's and on a slow decline already. Dropping from HW to LHW is something few try or are successful with.
wasnt there a vid with Mackie and Jones saying the scales that read 200lbs was in error on a documentary though ? I could be wrong.
I`m educated on the subject matter. I played high level sport. I have friends in professional sports, and ex teammates. I have spent time around, and have friends who have participated in high level university and pro level athletics from several sports, been in elite bodybuilding circles, and around some powerlifters. I`m also educated formally in science and engineering with 2 degrees and 2 minors. Not that any of that matters in the grand scheme of things, but i feel i have much more experience and insight into this type of culture than the majority who post here, which doesn`t mean others opinions are horrible or that they are not intelligent, it`s just a matter of perspective, a perspective many casual fans (or even avid fans) don`t get exposed to. Not trying to act like a know it all in the least....just trying to help put perspective on some topics which have a lot of misinformation circulating through the general public or media.
Yep. The loss of mass destroyed his physical attributes. He did it at a time where he was entering a stage of physical decline that all males experience in their mid 30`s to early 40`s. He never should have dropped below cruiser after ruiz.
Hi mate, thanks for taking the effort to type this up. Obviously kmac has no idea what he's talking about, but at least he's been categorically proven wrong to the point that he can't even argue back. That was very interesting to read I feel Jones cheated, but steroids aren't the reason Jones was great, that was down to his natural talent and genius ring IQ, he was levels above everyone he fought in his prime. Unfortunately steroids are a black mark against any athlete who uses them, but you can't deny Jones' greatness
I don't care how effective andro actually was as a PED, but it does raise testosterone levels, classified as an anabolic steroid and it is certainly possible Roy was taking it.
Not saying you are a know it all.:good Just wondering if you have juiced yourself, as you say you've been around bodybuilding and powerlifting where steroids are a tool of the trade and an accepted part of those sports and - both sports that I like, quite frankly would nto be as good without it rofl Also the fact that your name is JUICE 20 So yes or no ?
They said 193 was the error, and 200 was the actual weight. Regardless, he still packed on a good amount of muscle for that fight, and left it on up until pretty late to face Tarver, which was a huge mistake.
gotchya I dont feel that it would destroy his legs permanently however, even if I give you that one fight when he came down.
