Ricky Burns facebook status saying "big fight will hopefully be announced soon"

If it's DeMarco I'd be very pleased to be honest, I know 2+2 doesn't always come to 4 in boxing but I think it would give us a fair yardstick to where Ricky is in regards to Broner. If he beats him up there's no reason Broner shouldn't be in the Summer.

 

its a good fight but makes no sense. hes not going to beat him better than Broner.

So Ricky fights the man who got destroyed by the guy he is ducking. Sounds about right. I expect Burns vs Rees later on in the year.

 

If Burns fights Broner this year then I will go to the event, get in the ring while the National anthems are being sung and give Billy Nelson a blowjob on live TV infront of an audience of millions, which will include my mum and dad.

 

If it is Vazquez then it's a winnable fight for Burns and an excellent bit of match making, if he adds the IBF belt then he's got more bargaining power when it comes to a super fight with Broner if that ever materialises.

Vazquez is physically strong and tough, but he throws quite wild shots and often has his hands down, he's a typical come forward mexican fighter but does look crude some times. Burns would have the edge in speed, there's probably not much in it power wise but although Burns hits harder at LW I think Vazquez may have slightly more of a dig, although he's not a puncher by any means.

Vazquez often throws lead hooks that you can see coming and with Ricky's speed he could counter him pretty well. Burns has a decent chin but so does Vazquez whose tactic seem to be often trying to get inside and throwing a lot of body shots and hooks up close so Burns will have to watch out for that. If he can establish his jab and keep it at range I think he could pick him off accurately enough to get a UD if he can stay out of trouble and not get dragged into a brawl on the inside. Vazquez is a bit like Katsidis but less predictable and with more movement, he'll keep coming forward and throwing shots so if Burns does prevail it'll be a seriously tough fight for him cos I can't see him getting a KO.

So can anyone actually confirm that is IS vazquez or who it actually is yet?

I definitely think Ricky can win but Vasquez has some of the widest and craziest angles I've seen and almost looks like he lacks technique at times.
But it works.
Billy and Ricky will have their work cut out for them,and that's exactly what we're all looking for.

I know what you mean about lacking the technique he seems to throw very looping shots and oddball combinations which normally means you leave yourself open but with Vazquez he still seems pretty hard to hit because he moves his head a lot. His unorthodox style makes him unpredictable though so it's hard to work him out and as you don't know where he'll be there is always that danger of just walking into something big out of nowhere against him.

His best tactic would be to just pepper him with jabs and one twos for the first couple of rounds and if they get close tie him up, frustrate him so that he starts to come forward and throw more wildly and desperately and then look to counter him. The more early rounds Ricky can bag the better chance he has of winning the fight imo. If he lets Vazquez get inside and bully him or boss the fight from the opening bell, he's ****ed basically.

Be an intriguing fight though and one where we'll see what Burns is really made of!

I don't think Vasquez fights like a traditional come forward fighter, in the fights I have seen he has been on the back foot and boxing as he is tall for the weight. Haven't seen his most recent fight though.

I actually think Vasquez might let Burns come forward and try to counter using foot work and lateral movement, Burns is at his best though against come forward fighters using his height and reach advantages.

Will be a good fight if it happens though.
