He was a great beater of washed up white men.

Imagine Ali getting hit with the lefts that he did against Frazier but having the lefts come in even quicker but then getting hit with 4,5 punches right after the left as quick as you can imagine that's what Dempsey could do to Ali...

Dempsey wouldn't fight black fighters only after he became champion because his manager wouldn't let him he didn't want another Jack Johnson situation... If Dempsey was racist or what ever your saying why would he constantly have black sparring partners and have fought many black men before becoming champion and getting Rickard as his manager

    Dempsey was not a racist.

He just got the fear of a black man in him after the beating John Lester Johnson put on him. Cowardly might be a better description.

Trying to stir up the pot again eh Seamus?

The funny thing about this match up is both men were at there best in the first few rounds after which Dempsey slowed down his assualt tremedously and Ali became flat footed. The first few rounds is where the outcome of the fight will be decided IMO, Dempsey will be bobing and weaving in aggressivley trying to land his bombs while Ali will be looking to stay on the outside, land flurries and move, with Ali having much more success which is why I believe he wins this fight. Dempsey's style means he gets hit alot trying to work his way inside in order to land his own punches, against Ali he'll be up against a taller, faster and much rangier fighter who will be halfway across the ring before Dempsey gets into close enough range to land his hook. Dempsey would have to bomb Ali out in order to win and well who the hell ever managed to bomb Ali out?

Everybody landed good shots on Dempsey even Jungle Jess after being beaten half to death, few landed on Ali.

If theres a person who could ''bomb out Ali'' it would be Dempsey fast quick left hooks and great combinations one of the fastest and best combination punchers ever, and you say he would have to get Ali out early in his prime Dempsey had 18 first round ko's in one year and the 2 fights before Willard he knocked both the guys out in less than 40 seconds... Dempsey has a great shot at Ali if anyone ever did

And Dempsey being so quick and explosive with the left hook and Ali being susceptible to that punch... that dosent go so well for Ali as well as Ali starting very slowly not often throwing alot at the start and Dempsey being one of the quickest starters in history... Dempsey seems a very likely candidate to beat Ali H2H

The only person I could envision bombing out Ali would be Louis, faster, more accurate punches and the best finisher perhaps ever. Dempsey never KO'd a prime, durable heavyweight of note let alone the greatest heavyweight ever who also happens to be the quickest and one of the most durable. Of course Dempsey has a punchers chance to get Ali but I wouldn't be willing to put any weight to the theory.

Well its debatable who was faster Dempsey or Louis, Dempsey films were slowed down, so we cant exacly tell but somebody saw it at full speed the Willard fight and couldn't believe Dempseys speed

MM ,you talk as if Ali was GOD in the ring...He had many close wins, was rocked many times, was dropped several times, by guys that a Dempsey or Louis would have destroyed when both were at their bests...Ali was as much glitz and showmenship, such as jumping around the ring, doing the quick steps and not throwing any punches, but still piling up points...He HAD to do the rope-a-dope to catch his breath as he did not hit hard enough to hold some guys away...Yes he was a great heavyweight, was quick, entertaining and took a good punch, but he was not a Joe Louis who when Joe fought Max Baer, was almost surreal in the ring and if Ali pulled a rope a dope , Louis would have cornered him and goodbye Ali I firmly believe... And the Jack Dempsey at his peak was an earlier, and larger edition of Roberto Duran, vicious and catlike in his movements, who was
very strong for his weight with long arms and the best torqued left hook
amongst the heavyweights...And Dempsey was a rough tough mean SOB in the trenches...I have these 3 as the best heavyweights ever, though Nat Fleischer chose Jack Johnson...:hi:

Burt Ali did have allot of flash, but he also could throw plenty of punches when need be.
