Because half the posts on the first page are mentioning them meeting at featherweight? I know they are both lightweight thats why I called the people delusional who said they would fight at featherweight. Broner would be too quick for this guy. Lomachenko has the better boxing brain, but Broner's speed and punching style would frustrate the hell out of him.
Lomachenko has everything you need to be one of the best, if not the best p4p fighter in the paid ranks, as and when he turns pro. His footwork is out of this world, every punch in the book, good power, is fast, very good defensive radar and can fight inside or out. Of course nothing can be certain when making the leap, he may have chin or stamina issues for instance that we are unaware of, but i do think he is something special. Hope he just does this one series in WSB then goes pro, just can't wait to see him in the pro ranks. His style is suited to the pros.
Euro level If you don't know that a double olympic gold medallist with almost 400 fights and only 1 loss (that was avenged) and fights like that throwing hard body shots isn't world class then you need to find a sport you understand. People consider sloppy Pac as p4p, Pac is the amateur, off-balance looking fighter when you compare him to Lomachenko. Everybody with two eyes can see that.
Not one person has mentioned featherweight apart from you. Because Lomachenko is so precise you're underestimating his speed, he is very fast. Lomachenko has fought every style out there, I've been following him for a long time now. If they fought tomorrow I would back Lomachenko. I just hope the fight can be made at some point, I am a Broner fan as well.
Have a read through the thread again. atsch Yes Lomachenko is good and rarely makes mistakes. But how many great fighters has he fought? Boxing is like chess, great fighters will force other great fighters into making mistakes. Do you honestly think Broner won't frustrate the living hell out of Lomachenko? Since you have followed Lomachenko for a long time now, name me any fighter he has fought that is better than Broner?
i hear you on that but fact is you didn't hear what im saying cause when he turns pro thats whats gonna happen even after the WSB....so why not get it out of the way now? no way he's gonna go from wsb to fighting decent pros, he'll start with bums either way
He's quick and has nice footwork but no one is invincible. You really think this Olympian is no different to any other boxers. He will have gut check time down the road and let's see how this pampered olympian handles it. That to me is the difference between pro and amatuerish boxing. You will get checked in the pros. His skills is good though.
I'd guess he might fight a couple of bums but I reckon they would match him hard pretty quickly, I'd be surprised if and when he turns pro he's not fought for a version of the world title within 15 fights, and I'd expect it to closer to 10 in all honest.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxHRTQKKnyQ After watching this video (which I can't embed for some reason) I think Lomachenko really does stand a chance against Broner. But Broner would be favorite heading into this fight.
Pampered Olympian? Amateur and pro boxing simply means the sport and the paid ranks respectively. You can go a whole pro career without facing top competition and getting a 'gut check'. You don't win multiple olympic golds and world championships without beating the very best and having tough fights. As Pernell Whitaker said, getting his olympic gold was the big achievement and everything else was just cherry on top. If you don't think Lomachenko has guts and mental strength then watch his fight against Selimov at the 08 olympics. Selimov is the only guy to defeat Lomachenko in almost 400 fights. Selimov beat Lomachenko in the final at the 07 Worlds, it was Lomachenko's first senior competition. At the 08 Olympics he drew Selimov in the first round. Selimov got away to an early lead before Lomachenko took over. He won comfortably in the end and found time to showboat. That takes guts and mental strength to stay focused despite being behind against a very good fighter who has beaten you before on the big stage at a young age. He then went on to absolutely dominate his competition, beating the home fighter and then in the gold medal bout stopping his opponent in the first round, winning the Val Barker trophy. I know that no boxer is invincible but Lomachenko is as close to perfect as I have ever seen, I've seen him fight in every style and beat every style. If you think he's just another boxer then you're clueless about the sport.
Rigo has been moved quickly and Lomachenko has the finer amateur pedigree, the pro style, and now experience in WSB which is essentially pro boxing. If his promoter doesn't move him quickly when he turns pro next year then his promoter isn't doing his job properly. If I was looking after Lomachenko I'd find him the best 8 round opponent I could find, 10 round opponent, then a 12 round opponent before getting him a title shot in his 4th pro fight
