Bute, worst hype job of the decade?

It's too early to say he was a total hype job...

 

I'd say Mitchell

 

I've always said it.

 

A hype job should be judged on how he does after the first major defeat.
If that defeat becomes career-defining,then you have a contender for the title.Bute looked very shaky in that first fight back against...that guy,so it's a bit early to say because although I think Froch permanently damaged him,he's still a competent technician and it's a bit too early to say.
Mitchell,Lacy,Lemieux and Linares(Is the letter "L" an issue here?) are prime examples of guys who completely regressed after the big defeats,and I'm sure I could think of a couple more.
Imagine suggesting Chad Dawson as hype job of any year,far less the decade.He fought the future #1 P4P'r at a lower weight,and put the soundest beating on the great Bernard Hopkins we've seen in years(albeit BH is now winding up)
Chad's only problem is a slight mental block that results in laziness during rounds sometimes.He's a superb boxer and I admit I've went from disliking him to actually becoming a fan.

And like another fan said, it's still waaaaaayyy too early to being calling Bute a hypejob.

He was hyped I agree, and am guilty of myself, but I see something in him, and I can't and WON'T take it back until he fights Ward.

There is a very good reason why Ward is steering clear from a career high payday, and it aint cuz Bute doesn't deserve to give Ward a career high payday.

Styles make fights, and Carl Froch has the style that a guy like Ward, Dirrel, and Taylor can take advantage of. Bute OTOH has to make adjustments defensively, and he clearly didn't.

He's 33 y/o. Held a major world title and defended it for about 3 yrs against solid top 10 opposition, AND HE'S NEVER DUCKED A SINGLE FIGHTER, EVER.:deal

 

Still one of the best in the division. He was a world champ, got beat by No.2, doesn't mean he's crap. Bute has beaten someone decent guys in dominant fashion.

 

Exactly, hows the number 2 in the division with 9 or 10 title defenses undeserving
