I was only replying to the suggestion that there was no one on Burns' resume who would give Amir any sort of problem. And since you're pointing that out using my post,I should point out that I never said anything about Amir's lack of power. And worth pointing out that Gomez didn't put Ricky on his arse either. Strange that you keep using my posts to accuse me of things I haven't said.
Ye I am talking about Khan @140lbs in 2013 not the 2008 version at 135lbs. Khan at 140lbs would eat gomez alive in the first round. Lets also not forget burns fought gomez a year after khan did, where gomez hadn't fought at that weight for atleast 2 years. Even then he couldn't get gomez out of there before Khan did at 135lbs a year earlier.
Hindsight's a wonderful thing, and Ricky came through far harder and with less exposure than Khan did.I'm not for a second saying that Burns has fought at a better level, but you said there's not one person on Burns resume who would give Khan a problem, but there already has been. Ricky was fighting at CW level before the Martinez fight so let's not fudge the issue by saying they both had equal opportunities. And if you want to go on about getting someone out of there, will I say at least Ricky didn't end up on his arse. Come on mate.Keep it real and don't descend to the level that some have here.I only pointed out an actual fact, because your statement was slightly loaded.Ricky fought most of his career at SFW,so how can you compare who would trouble Khan at 140?
But it's a fact, and it needed pointing out. Oooh.We seem to have found a sore spot here.:think How can their opponents be compared when Ricky was fighting at 130 for the vast majority of his career. Some people need to get it together.Who on Floyd Mayweather's resume would give Ward any problems?
Against Mitchell sometimes he looked wild, clumsy and fell in with his shots...I thought it was his worst performance of the last couple of years from a technique point of view
I wish I hadn't brought up the SRL comment and stuck to a sensible post like this one. This thread has deteriorated horribly.People accusing others of things they've never said and comparing a guy's time at 140 removing many of his flaws and flawed performances against a guy's career resume, most of which was spent at 130. Shame a lot of Khan fans are unable to call the fight without trying to get shitty about Burns. And you won't catch me saying anything about Khan that is untrue or uncalled for, because I'm a fan of the fighter even if he has turned into a complete wanker outside of the ring since Prescott brutalised him and messed with his eqiluilibrium so much that he went from a nice kid into an arrogant little bullshitter who pretends to call out ATGs then claims their ducking because they won't fight for peanuts as "opponents". Not one thing.:nono And I still haven't said Ricky beats Amir,so try and let that sink in. I'd gladly pay to watch Amir in action.:good
The diffrence between Ricky and Amir is there defence,Rickys chin is solid but his defencive skill set is as good as ive seen from any fighter, you can only hurt what you can hit and Ricky doesn't get hit to often, when have you ever seen him marked up bruised ect?
Not really I think his defence is suspect as was seen against Johanneson. He just has a high guard like khan really nothing else. Ricky chin was only tested vs Johanneson who is nowhere near as hard hitting as a Maidana, prescott or garcia. So tbh I wouldn't call his chin solid, its more untested against poor opposition. If he ever fought Broner we will find out exactly how good his defence and chin is.
Ricky's defence in the Katsidis fight really impressed me, it was top notch. That fight made me a real fan of Ricky. Looking forward to the announcement, I hope it's a unification fight with Vasquez, if it's DeMarco I still wouldn't be disappointed If both guys win, we have to get Burns-Broner by the end of this year, do what you can to make it happen Billy! :good
Actually he was floored by a hook to the chin also. He's unbeaten because he hasn't faced anybody that is near world level.
Johansson was one of the best fighters in the country when Ricky fought him whilst the consensus was that Ricky was matched a bit too hard at that stage. No one's saying that Ricky has always been as good as he is now,but he's the most improved fighter in Europe. And how is Martinez or Katsidis not world level? No one said Katsidis was shot until Ricky beat him. And both were heavily favoured to beat Ricky. Why are you so intent on shitting on Burns? You;"There's no one on Burns' resume that would give Khan any problems" Me;"Erm..well actually, there is.Gomez put him on his arse" You"No,no!I mean Amir since he's been at 140 and fighting at the top level" How the **** can you use Khan at 140 when Ricky's never fought at the weight and has only been at 135 for two years? You want to keep moving the goalposts mate.Is there anyone on Hopkins' resume that would trouble David Haye?:think
