Listen bball,I see people calling Ricky Burns a hypejob and he's the least hyped fighter that gets discussed a lot these days. They even matched him far too hard in the early days because they never thought he'd get anywhere near where he is now.He was fighting at commonwealth level before he got his shot and wasn't even rated at the top domestically. The whole hypejob thing is completely misunderstood by many, and the fact we're discussing Chad here proves it.
Bute held that IBF belt hostage in Canada when all the big boys scrapped for the lineage of the division. And still, there were people here claiming him to be the best of the division when Kessler,Froch,Ward and Dirrell were all rumbling in a tournament for all the marbles. Call it hype, call it bias, call it plain nuthuggery, but it was some of the worst baseless nuthuggery I have ever come across on this forum. Now I understand why people wouldn't want to call a champion a hypejob, but due to all the exterior farces, he was to an extent, a HYPEJOB.
Pascal was never knocked down is whole carreer and always reacted when he was shaken. The last Dawson fury was nothing worisome and the ref never helped him in that fight. Only once something unfair happened in Montreal in last few years with Marlon B. Wright, all the rest, judge included has been really fair. In the state, robberies are legion, like what happened with Usamee last week end. Lemieux was never considered p4p, just an exciting young exciting prospect. Dawson being in the P4P list compares with Bute being considered #1, it is about on par. Ward even said Bute was legit at one point during the S6 and avoided Bute (making excuses why he should not be fighting him).
The difference is that it was a consensus opinion of boxing writers that Chad was on that list.A tad premature perhaps, but he looked capable of cleaning out that division. There was never a shred of evidence that pointed to Bute being the #1. And while we're on the subject,Dawson would destroy Bute on what we've seen so far, although I think he would benefit greatly from moving up when it comes to punch resistance. And bear in mind I'm saying Bute doesn't deserve the title in question here.
he was never considered p4p because he didn't do **** to even be close to it. But people were saying he was eventually going to be there. That's the point of a hypejob. and Dawson has wins over Johnson 2x, Tarver 2x, Hopkins, Adamek, and Diaconu. Not to mention he's still lineal champion at 175. Oh and Bernard knocked Pascal down twice in the rematch that didn't get called and Dawson was about to get himself, AT LEAST one knockdown vs him when he was facing a very tired Pascal that he already hurt multiple times and stunned badly with an uppercut.
Maybe people should wait for guys to develop decent wins before overrating them? Lemieux. Bute. Pavlik. Berto(he just sucks but I find it funny people said he was overrated as that just wasnt the case) I still see that trend in GGG, Broner, and Canelo. Not to say they'll get exposed but guys rush them saying they'll beat top names with no proof. Then if they do get humiliated people will say they werent any good anyways. Its thinking like this that destroys these young fighters. Instead of saying Bute is horrible we should give him respect for going to Froch's cave even though he got annihilated as well as give Froch his due. Froch fought the best fight of his career. Yeah Bute was hyped up but we never would've known what would've happened until he did step up which took longer than it should've. Don't blame him for not wanting a rematch but he should fight who else he can in the meantime.
Broner has won title moving up. Beated guy really convingly. GGG just became known by americans. Canelo though... his hype is not back that much by impressive wins. Again if Bute was that bad, why Kessler, Ward and Pavlik didn't jumped on that easy money? Ward pulled a Mayweather on that one : waiting for something to happen to the "other guy". Much respect to Froch and Bute - jump on the best guy available (Kessler seems to be ducking him right now for easier money).
Hopkins - 47 years old Tarver - 40+ for both Johnson - 40+ for both, one was a robbery Adamek - Dead at the weight Diaconu - Diaconwho? He basically beats on the elderly. The fact is the only time he stepped up to fight the top, hungry young guys he has been soundly beaten, once by clear decision and the other time he quit. Typical American hypejob that has showed no interest in avenging either loss.
:huh The Pascal fight is next [yt]PYzj4RpiCtU[/yt] and there's no point in rematching Ward until he comes up to 175
"p4p", boxing has got to be up there in the "which sport has the dumbest fans" topic. You lose once, you're ****. You win once, you're GOAT.
