The only way I see Mikey winning is if Salido is noticeably past it, or Garcia shows up with something we've never seen before. I can't look at each fighters last few performances and say Mikey should be favored. I'd be impressed if he does win, he's a skilled guy and can crack, but what's his best win? Concepcion? Mikey fights at a very relaxed pace and keeps range until he finds an opening for a bomb. I don't think Salido will afford him that luxury.
Seems like the way for Salido to win is to draw Garcia into a firefight. But Garcia can be passionless (in a good way) in the ring. He takes his time. He measures his shots. He doesn't swing wildly when he has a man hurt...gotta go with Garcia on this one but should be a good fight.
Salido seems to have found a new resolve and I don't see him dropping the ball just yet. I think Garcia will start to tire around the 8th when he sees he has nothing to stop Siri coming. A lat stoppage for Siri and he may be behind when he gets it.
It only means anything in the context of who else he's sparred. Valero and Maidana hit harder than Mikey, but who does Mikey it harder than? Just the rest of lower level guys he's sparred? Without names for comparison it just means he's a hard hitter, which we know.
Should be a great fight. I don't think Salido is that past it to get 'destroyed', nor do I think he's going to bullrush through Garcia either. I see a back and forth battle that Garcia starts to pull ahead in with his clean punching towards the last 3rd of the fight, or Salido gets him in a firefight he's outgunned in. Guess it depends on who imposes their will more.. Haven't seen enough of Garcia to know if he can avoid exchanging with Salido to put up a solid prediciton.
IDK if Garcia will expose himself enough to make this a classic...Mikey is a cerebral guy in the ring.
As I said in another thread, I think the key is going to be how well Mikey handles Salido's pressure. Mikey is very deliberate and patient by nature, I don't think Salido will afford him that luxury, we will see if Mikey can either adjust (very possible) and/or back Salido off (doubtful). Salido has shown that he's willing to lay it all on the line, Mikey hasn't been put in that situation yet, but will in this fight. Very interesting fight on a lot of levels, I have been really high on Mikey and I hope he pulls this out.
I understand what you mean, but in fairness Mikey hasn't been in a position where he's had to show "it".
I would be much more shocked if Mikey blasts out Salido than I will if Salido blasts out Mikey. If it goes the distance I think it favors Mikey, but that's a big "IF". Salido could definitely bust the kid up, hope not, but very possible.
