Chagaev - Ortiz for interim WBA heavyweight belt

I assume that if Wlad beats Povetkin the WBA regular belt would be automatically vacated and other boxers will get to compete for it. The WBA regular belt is just a way for the WBA to make more money from sanctioning fees.

i was wondering when ortiz was gonna fight someone legit, finally. this guy aint getting any younger. its either now or never

ortiz has an amazing amateur record. close to like 300 wins and only 19 losses

 

It's BS but it could be a good sign since it could mean that Povetkin is really going to fight Wlad next and they want another champ before he loses his title

 

If Povetkin doesn't fight Wlad he probably will and should be stripped.

This is nothing new. The WBA have had 3 'champions' in a weight class several times before. It is a complete joke.

 

The WBA is making a bad decision here. They should give somebody else besides Chagaev and Ortiz a shot for the interim title.

Things will be complicated because of Chagaev's Hep B antigen. The sanctioning bodies should give some new people a chance at a belt instead of recycling the same boxers over and over again.

The WBA belt is becoming more and more meaningless. They make Hasim Rahman the WBA mandatory, and now they are giving Luis Ortiz, who hasn't defeated a top 50 heavyweight, an interim title shot.

 

The WBA belt is garbage partially for those reasons you mentioned. The other belts aren't much better.
